HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory - Embedded Web Server configuration options for the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory

This document provides information on how to open and use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) options to configure the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory.

Open the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. Make sure the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory is installed properly and that the status lights are illuminated.
    • A green status LED (furthest from the USB connector) indicates that the device is ready.
    • A blue status LED indicates that the HP 1200w Accessory is connected to a wireless network or that another HP wireless direct connection is active.
    • The printer communication status LED (closest to the USB connector) is green if a supported HP printer is currently connected, blank if no printer is connected, or red if an unsupported printer is connected.

  2. Connect to the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory network.
    1. Using a wireless computer or a wireless mobile device, open the Wi-Fi list of available networks.
    2. Find the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory network name or SSID in the list.
      note:
      The default format of the SSID is HP-Print-**-1200w Mobile Print, where “**” represents the last two digits of the HP 1200w Accessory's MAC address (a label that contains the SSID information is attached to the side of the HP 1200w Accessory).
    3. Select and connect to the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory.
  3. To obtain the IP address, print a configuration page from the printer control panel.
  4. Open a Web browser, and in the address field, type the IP address of the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory exactly as it appears on the printed page and then press Enter.

  5. The first time a connection is established with the Embedded Web Server, the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory automatically launches the configuration wizard. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the configuration.

Embedded Web Server (EWS) configuration options

The following information describes the configurations options available in the EWS for the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory.
  • HOME
    • System Status
      • Device Name — Device name of the HP 1200w Accessory.
      • Network Status
        • Wireless Network — Indicates whether the wireless network is Enabled or Disabled. (Click Wireless Network to display additional information.)
        • Connection Status — Displays the HP 1200w Accessory network connection status as Connected or Not Connected.
        • Wireless Direct Network — Indicates whether the wireless direct network is Enabled or Disabled. (Click Wireless Direct Network to display additional information.)
      • Printer Status — Displays the printer status as Supported if the HP 1200w Accessory is connected to a supported printer, or Not Supported if connected to a non-supported printer. (Click the Printer Status to display additional information.)
        note:
        The Printer Status displays Not Connected if the HP 1200w Accessory is not currently connected to a printer.
    • Product Information
      • Serial Number — HP 1200w Accessory serial number.
      • Firmware version — Current HP 1200w Accessory firmware version.
    • Setup Wizard — Click to start the setup wizard. Choose a guided configuration or select options to set from a menu. For detailed information about using the wizard, go to Configure and connect to the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory.
  • ADMIN
    • System Settings
      • Country — The selected country/region.
      • Language — The selected language.
    • Firmware Settings
      • Automatic Updates — Select Enabled to automatically download and install firmware updates.
        note:
        HP recommends that the Automatic Updates option is set to Enabled. For detailed information about updating the firmware, go to Update the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory firmware.
      • Firmware Version — The current firmware version.
      • Firmware Update — Click Check For Updates to immediately check for new updates.
    • Password Settings
      • Username — The default is Admin (administrator).
      • Password — When set and confirmed, the password is required when attempting to change certain configuration parameters.
        note:
        The administrator password is only used to restrict access to the configuration parameters of the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory EWS.
      • Confirm Password — Re-type the password to confirm.
  • NETWORK
    • Network Status
      • Hardware Address (MAC) — MAC address of the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory.
      • Wireless Network
        • StatusEnabled or Disabled.
        • Network Name (SSID) — Network name or SSID of the wireless network (if connected).
        • Security Mode — Security of the connected network.
      • TCP/IP(V4)
        • IP Address — Assigned IP address of the HP 1200w Accessory.
        • Subnet mask — Assigned subnet mask of the HP 1200w Accessory
        • Domain Name— Domain name of the HP 1200w Accessory.
        • Default gateway — Default gateway address of the HP 1200w Accessory.
        • IP Configured By — Method used to configure the HP 1200w Accessory.
        • Server — Server IP address of the HP 1200w Accessory.
        • WINS Server — Hostname or IP address of the WINS server.
        • Preferred DNS Address — Preferred DNS address of the HP 1200w Accessory.
        • Alternate DNS Address — Alternate DNS address of the HP 1200w Accessory.
      • TCP/IP(V6)
        • Link Local — Assigned link local address of the HP 1200w Accessory.
        • Stateless (from Router) — Stateless address assigned by the router.
        • Stateful (from DHCPv6) — Stateful address configured by a DHCPv6 server.
      • Wireless Direct Network
        • StatusEnabled or Disabled.
        • Network Name (SSID) — Network name or SSID of the HP 1200w Accessory.
        • IP Address — IP address of the HP 1200w Accessory.
        • Connected Clients — Number of currently connected clients.
        • IP Address/Hardware Address (MAC) — Table listing the IP address/hardware address of the connected clients.
    • Wireless Network Settings
      For detailed information about setting the wireless network parameters, go to Configure and connect to the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory.
      • StatusEnabled or Disabled.
      • Wireless Setup
        • Manual Setup — Manually scan the wireless networks and then set the security.
          • Scan Wireless Networks — Click to manually scan for wireless networks. When completed, select the wireless network to connect to.
          • Network Name (SSID) — Service set identifier (SSID) of the connected network.
          • Security Mode — Security of the connected network.
          • Passphrase — Passphrase required to connect to the selected network.
        • WPS: Push Button Method — Use the Wi-Fi protected setup (WPS) on the router by pressing the WPS button to generate a random network name or SSID.
          • Start WPS — Click to start the WPS process. Then, press the WPS button on your router.
          • Network Name (SSID) — Service set identifier (SSID) of the connected network.
          • Security Mode — Security of the connected network.
          • Passphrase — Passphrase required to connect to the selected network.
        • WPS: PIN Method — Use the HP 1200w Accessory PIN as the WPS PIN for the router. Type the displayed PIN in the appropriate field on the router's utility screen.
          • Start WPS — Click to start the WPS process within two minutes of pressing the WPS button on the router.
          • Network Name (SSID) — Service set identifier (SSID) of the connected network.
          • Security Mode — Security of the connected network.
          • Passphrase — Passphrase required to connect to the selected network.
    • Wireless Direct Network Settings
      For detailed information about setting the wireless direct network parameters, go to Configure and connect to the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory.
      • StatusEnabled or Disabled.
      • Network Name (SSID) — Default service set identifier (SSID) is the HP 1200w Accessory device name. You can assign a unique SSID for easier identification.
      • Wireless Channel — Select the channel.
        note:
        If the HP 1200w Accessory is currently connected to a wireless network, the Wireless Channel field is not displayed.
      • Security Mode — Select None or WPA/WPA2. If WPA/WPA2 is used, type the Passphrase in the field.
          caution:
        HP recommends turning security ON and using a password. If no security is set, the printer can be accessed by anyone through the printer access point.
        • If WPA/WPA2 was selected, set a passphrase (password) to connect to the HP wireless direct network.
          note:
          The HP printer must support WPA/WPA2 encryption.
    • Wireless MAC Filter
      • MAC Filter Mode — Select Allow Listed or Block Listed for hardware addresses, and then type the addresses in the MAC Filter List.
    • MAC Filter List
      • Hardware Address (MAC) — Type the hardware address (MAC) to filter, and click Add. Continue entering hardware addresses to allow or block as needed.
        To remove a hardware address, select it from the Hardware Address (MAC) list and then click Remove.
    • AirPrint Settings
      • Status — Status of the connection, which is Enabled or Disabled.
      • Bonjour Domain Name — The domain name assigned to the HP 1200w Accessory.
      • Bonjour Service Name — The service name assigned to the HP 1200w Accessory device. The default consists of the printer model name plus the LAN hardware (MAC) address. For example: LJ451:HP 1200w Mobile Print Accy[nnnn] for the HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color M451dw.
        note:
        To edit the service name value, first deselect the Include printer model in name check box.
      • Device Location — The physical location of the HP 1200w Accessory device.
      • Geo-Location — The geographic location (latitude and longitude) of the HP 1200w Accessory device.
        note:
        You can change the geographic location value.
      • Default Paper Size — Contains a list of default paper size values that are associated with the printer profile. This information is typically used by Apple AirPrintTM to identify a Media Ready value that is used by the printer.
        note:
        The default Apple AirPrintTM page size is Letter, which might not be appropriate for your region.
    • Advanced Settings
      • Network Status — Current network status.
      • Host Name — The host name assigned to the HP 1200w Accessory.
      • IP Address Configuration — Select Automatic to automatically configure the IP address. Select Manual to manually configure the IP address.
      • IPP EnableIPP and IPPS is the default and allows both IPP and IPPS print jobs to be sent to the printer. IPP Only allows only IPP print jobs. IPPS Only allows only IPPS print jobs.
      • DHCP — Select Enabled to enable DHCP requests to the your DHCP server. The HP 1200w Accessory will obtain its IP address from the server. Select Disabled to disable DHCP requests.
      • BOOTP — Select Enabled to enable BOOTP requests to your BOOTP server, which can provide basic network configuration data. Select Disabled to disable BOOTP requests.
      • AUTO IP — Select Enabled to automatically configure using a unique link-local address. Select Disabled to disable automatic configuration.
  • PRINTER
    • Printer Status — Displays the printer status as Supported if the HP 1200w Accessory is connected to a supported printer, or Not Supported if connected to a non-supported printer. (Click the Printer Status to display additional information.)
      note:
      The Printer Status displays Not Connected if the HP 1200w Accessory is not currently connected to a printer.
    • Supplies Status — Displays the Supplies Status page of the connected printer.
  • Support
    • Product Support — Provides URLs for downloading the HP ePrint application and the HP 1200w Accessory product support page.
    • Print Info Pages — Print the HP 1200w Accessory configuration page.
