HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory - Update the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory firmware

1. Print a self test/configuration page to a connected printer/MFP by holding down the multifunction button for two seconds. (The multifunction button is located on the side of the HP 1200w Accessory just below the status lights.)
   The Firmware Datecode entry is located in the Product Information section.
2. Using a wireless computer or a wireless mobile device, connect to the HP 1200w Accessory network name or SSID. The default format of the SSID is HP-Print-**-1200w Mobile Print, where “**” represents the last two digits of the HP 1200w Accessory's MAC address.
   1. Open a Web browser.
   2. In the address line or Go to field, type the IP address of the HP 1200w Accessory, which is: http://192.168.223.1. Press the Enter key. The HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory EWS opens.
   3. Select the HOME menu. The firmware version is displayed above the device name in the upper-right portion of the page.

note:

To check for updates, the HP 1200w Accessory must have an HP wireless direct or wireless LAN (WLAN) connection and access to the Internet.

1. Using the EWS, select the HOME menu, select Admin, and then select Firmware Settings.
2. Click Check For Updates to check for and display any new updates.

note:

HP recommends using automatic firmware updates.

To update the firmware, the HP 1200w Accessory must have an HP wireless direct or wireless LAN (WLAN) connection and access to the Internet.

1. Using a wireless computer or a wireless mobile device, connect to the HP 1200w Accessory network name or SSID. The default format of the SSID is HP-Print-**-1200w Mobile Print, where “**” represents the last two digits of the HP 1200w Accessory's MAC address.
2. Open a Web browser.
3. In the address line or Go to field, type the IP address of the HP 1200w Accessory, which is: http://192.168.223.1. Press the Enter key. The HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory EWS opens.
4. Select the HOME menu, select Admin, and then select System Settings.
5. To automatically update the firmware, select Enabled for Automatic Updates.
6. Click SAVE to save the change, or BACK to discard the change.

note:

To update the firmware, the HP 1200w Accessory must have an HP wireless direct or wireless LAN (WLAN) connection. Your computer must have access to the Internet to download the update utility.

In managed environments where firmware deployment must be controlled, HP recommends using a wireless network connection and downloading the firmware update to each device from one location.

The HP Firmware Update Utility is supported on the following Windows operating systems: Windows XP, Vista, 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), and 8.

The HP Firmware Update Utility is not supported on mobile devices using iOS, Android, or Windows RT.

Disconnect any HP printers/MFPs that are currently connected to the HP 1200w Accessory.

1. Go to: www.hp.com/support/1200w.
2. Select View and download all drivers, software and firmware for this product.
3. Scroll down and then select, Cross operating system (BIOS, Firmware, Diagnostics, etc.).
4. Select your operating system, and then click Download.
5. Save the file to your system.
6. Using a wireless computer, directly connect to the HP 1200w Accessory network name or SSID. The default format of the SSID is HP-Print-**-1200w Mobile Print, where “**” represents the last two digits of the HP 1200w Accessory's MAC address. 7. Launch the HP Firmware Update Utility by double-clicking the update utility file name.

   note:

   By default, the HP Firmware Update Utility scans devices on your network. To scan for all HP wireless direct devices, select the Wireless Direct Devices check box when the initial scan is complete.

   When the HP Firmware Update Utility scans for HP wireless direct devices, all devices using the SSID format HP-Print-**- are listed. (The “**” represents the last two digits of the device's MAC address.)

8. To display the device's current firmware version, double-click the device name.
9. Select the device to update and then click Update Firmware.

   note:

   Messages are displayed during the update process. When the process is complete, a success message is displayed. You can confirm the firmware update by printing a self test/configuration page when connected to a printer. (Hold down the multifunction button for two seconds.)
