The HP printer is connected to a computer
Complete the following to enable wireless printing from an HP printer that is connected to the computer using a USB pass-through cable.
Connecting the HP 1200w Accessory using this USB pass-through configuration method allows both direct and wireless printing from the computer to the HP printer.
    1. Disconnect the type B (rounded) plug of the USB cable from the HP printer (1) and plug it into the HP 1200w Accessory (2).
    2. Connect the type A (flat) plug of a second USB cable (not provided with the product) to the HP 1200w Accessory (3).
    3. Connect the type B (rounded) plug of the second USB cable to the USB port on the HP printer (4).
  6. View the status lights on the HP 1200w Accessory to verify that it is operating correctly.
    1. A green device status LED (furthest from the USB connector) indicates that the device is ready. A blue device status LED indicates that the HP 1200w Accessory is connected to a wireless network or that another HP wireless direct connection is active.
    2. The printer communication status LED (closest to the USB connector) is green if a supported HP printer is currently attached, or blank if no printer is attached.
If the printer communication status LED is flashing red, go to www.hp.com/go/1200wSupport, or scan the QR code with your mobile device.
  7. Print a self test/configuration page by pressing and holding the multifunction button for two seconds. (The multifunction button is located on the side of the HP 1200w Accessory just below the status lights.)
  8. Using a wireless mobile device or a wireless computer, verify that wireless capability is enabled (the Wi-Fi radio is on). This control is typically found in the Settings menu.
  9. Connect to the HP 1200w Accessory network name or SSID listed on the self-test/configuration page. The default format of the SSID is HP-Print-**-1200w Mobile Print, where “**” represents the last two digits of the HP 1200w Accessory's MAC address. (The default SSID is printed on the sticker that is located on the side of the HP 1200w Accessory.)
This establishes an HP wireless direct (peer-to-peer) connection. The device status LED changes to blue indicating a wireless connection. If the wireless device has printing capabilities, you can now print to the HP 1200w Accessory.
    note:
The first time a connection is established, the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory Embedded Web Server (NEWS) automatically launches the setup wizard. Provide the language to use, select the set up method (guided or manual), and complete the initial configuration.
To review the wizard settings, configure the HP 1200w Accessory to work on your wireless (Wi-Fi) network, and to verify connections, go to Configure and connect to the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory.
To print using various wireless devices, go to How to print and update HP ePrint Software.
