HP LaserJet Enterprise, HP LaserJet Managed - 98.XX.YY Errors

Issue:

One of the following errors is displayed on the printer’s control panel:
  • 98.00.YY
    An internal firmware error has occurred (corrupt data found in the Partition Manager).
  • 98.01.YY
    An internal firmware error has occurred (unable to create extended partition).
  • 98.02.YY
    An internal firmware error has occurred (unable to wipe the Partition Manager).
  • 98.03.YY
    An internal firmware error has occurred (data error in the Partition Manager).

SOLUTION: 98.00.YY Error

  1. Turn the printer off, and then on.
  2. Use the Format Disk item in the Preboot menu.
    WARNING: The Format Disk option performs a disk initialization on the entire disk. The operating system, firmware files, and third-party files (among other files) will be completely lost. If you are uncomfortable performing this step, please contact HP Customer Support.
  3. Reload the firmware. Reference this document for instruction on loading the firmware: HP LaserJet Enterprise - Update firmware using a USB flash drive or the Embedded Web Server (EWS) (25K) (ID: emr_na-c03847902) .
  4. If the issue persists, please contact HP Customer Support.

SOLUTION: 98.01.YY, 98.02.YY, 98.03.YY Errors

  1. Turn the printer off, and then on.
  2. Use Erase and Unlock in the Preboot menu.
  3. Reload the firmware. Reference this document for instruction on loading the firmware: HP LaserJet Enterprise - Update firmware using a USB flash drive or the Embedded Web Server (EWS) (25K) (ID: emr_na-c03847902) .
  4. If the issue persists, please contact HP Customer Support.

Accessing the Preboot Menu:

TOUCHSCREEN PRINTERS
  1. Turn the printer off, and then on.
  2. Touch the HP logo that displays in the center of the touchscreen until the Preboot menu opens.
  3. Use the arrow buttons on the touchscreen to navigate the Preboot menu.
  4. Touch the OK button to select a menu item.
NON-TOUCHSCREEN PRINTERS
  1. Turn the printer off, and then on.
  2. Wait for both the Ready and Attention LEDs to illuminate and then dim out. The HP logo will appear on the control panel display.
  3. When the LEDs illuminate again, press the Stop button on the control panel.
    הערה:
    The period of time for opening the Preboot menu, while the Ready and Attention LEDs are illuminated, is around one second. You might need to press the Stop button repeatedly while the product is starting up to make you sure you gain access to the Preboot menu.
