Apple is about to release Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).
This document outlines a bug in this OS affecting PostScript drivers.
Issue
There is a bug affecting PostScript (PS) drivers, found under a very particular scenario. From HP’s side
there is no possible fix. HP recommends that Apple solves it in future releases.
Note: All PS drivers are affected: Not only HP Designjet, but any other PS driver, even from other
vendors.
Issue scenario:
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.10
PostScript drivers
Settings on the driver: Custom paper sizes used simultaneously with landscape orientation.
Applications affected: Several applications are affected, such as AutoCAD.
Note: Adobe applications are NOT affected (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
Description:
When printing using PostScript drivers with custom paper size and landscape orientation, in
applications different from Adobe’s, a small error window appears indicating that the “cgpdftops” filter
has crashed. The job is NOT printed.
Workarounds:
- Use Raster driver when available (but not applicable to all printers, as not all printers have both PS and Raster drivers in Mac OS).
- Print in portrait mode: create a Custom paper, interchanging the wide and length, then select portrait orientation.
- Generate a PDF file with the desired application, or export as PDF. Then print the job in the required paper and orientation using an Adobe app (like Adobe Reader XI).
