HP DeskJet 2700, 4100, 4800 printers - Blinking lights and error codes
The printer has lights and an error display on the control panel to show the status of your printer. Find the meaning of the errors and light conditions and what you should do when they occur.

Power light blinks fast
The Power light blinks fast when the ink cartridge door is open, or the printer is in an error state.

If an error message displays on the computer or mobile device, follow any steps to resolve the issue.

If the ink cartridge door is open, close it.

If the ink cartridge door is closed, try printing a document to generate a message.
Wireless light blinks, Wireless Attention icon is on, and signal bars are cycling
The Wireless light blinks, the Wireless Attention icon is on, and the signal bars are cycling when the wireless connection is on, but the printer cannot find a wireless signal.
Wait for the printer to establish a connection. If the Wireless light still blinks, check for network issues. Go to Troubleshoot a Wi-Fi connection to an HP printer for more information.
Error, Paper Error icons, Resume light are on
The Error and Paper Error icons blink and the Resume light is on when there is no paper in the input tray.
Load paper into the input tray, adjust the paper guide to the edge of the stack, and then lower the output tray and extender.
Error, Ink Level icons blink, Ink Alert light is on or blinks
The Error and Ink Level icons blink, and the Alert light is on or blinks when at least one ink cartridge needs attention or is faulty, missing, damaged, or incompatible.
Check cartridge compatibility, reseat one or both ink cartridges, clean the ink cartridge contacts, restart the printer, and replace one or both ink cartridges if necessary. For detailed troubleshooting, go to Ink Cartridge Errors.
Ink level, Error icons, Resume light blink, Ink Alert light is on
The Ink Level icons, Resume light, and Error icon blink, and the Ink Alert light is on, indicating at least one ink cartridge is incompatible or the ink levels are low.
Make sure the ink cartridges are compatible and installed correctly, and then replace any low or empty cartridges. Go to HP DeskJet 2700, 4100, 4800 printers - Replacing ink cartridges for more information.
E1 or E2 error and Resume light blink
An E1 or E2 error with a blinking Resume light indicates the paper size setting does not match the paper size loaded in the input tray.
Load the correct size paper or change the print settings. Go to HP Printers - Paper Mismatch error (Windows, Mac) for more information.
E3 or E4 error
An E3 or E4 error indicates a carriage or paper jam.

E5 or E6 error
An E5 or E6 error occurs when the scanner or printer is in an error state. Reset the printer.

With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the power source.

Wait 60 seconds.

Reconnect the power cord to the printer, and then plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet.
