HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301, 4302, 4303 - Scan to computer from the printer control panel (Windows)

Learn how to enable and use the "Scan to Computer" feature.

Overview

"Scan to Computer" feature allows you to scan directly to a Windows computer from the printer control panel. This feature is disabled by default. To use this feature on the control panel, you must install the HP recommended printer software to enable the "Scan to Computer" function.

Note:

The "Scan to Computer" feature is available for Windows only and not supported by macOS.

To scan from the printer for macOS, use "HP Smart app". For more information, go to "How to scan with an HP printer".

Requirements before you begin

Review the following requirements before you begin scanning.

Ensure the following requirements are met before you begin:

Your printer and computer are connected to the same network.
Your computer and printer are turned on. Ensure the printer is in a "Ready" state.
"HP Scan Assistant" and “HP Scan” software are installed on your computer before scanning.
Ensure that the printer software is running before you scan.

Step one: Install "HP Universal Scan" full software solution

Follow these steps to install the "HP Universal Scan" full software solution on your Windows computer.

Go to https://www.hp.com/hpscan.
Select your location.
Locate HP Universal Scan - Full Feature Software and Driver, and then click the Download link.

The file will automatically download to the "Downloads" folder on your computer.
Locate the downloaded ".exe" file, and then double-click the file to begin the installation.

An HP Scan wizard will launch to start the installation process.
Follow the on-screen instructions and recommendations in the HP Scan wizard to install the full software solution on your computer.

The HP Universal Scan driver includes the HP Scan Assistant and HP Scan software.

Note:
When the installation process is complete, make sure you have HP Scan Assistant and HP Scan installed on your computer.

Step two: Enable "Scan to computer" using HP Scan Assistant

Follow these steps to enable the "Scan to Computer" feature on the printer control panel using HP Scan Assistant.

Open HP Scan Assistant on your computer.
Click the Scan tab.
Select Manage Scan to Computer.

Step three: Use the "Scan to computer" feature

Follow these steps to scan to a Windows computer from the printer using the "Scan to computer" feature.

Load the document using the scanner glass or the document feeder according to the indicators on the printer.
From the Home screen on the control panel, touch the Scan icon .
Touch “Scan to computer”.
Select the name of a computer you want to scan to.
Select the desired scan settings.
Touch Send.

The scan will be sent to the selected computer.
