HP Color LaserJet Pro printers - 'Resend upgrade' error or all control panel lights blink

Restart the printer, and then upgrade the printer firmware.

HP Color LaserJet Pro M253-M254, MFP M181fw, or M280-M281 printer series: Printer stops responding and a Resend upgrade message displays on the printer control panel during the firmware upgrade.

HP Color LaserJet Pro M153-M154 or MFP M180-M181 printer series: Printer stops responding and all lights on the control panel blink during the firmware upgrade.

The error message Resend upgrade or the blinking control panel lights during firmware upgrade indicates an incomplete or failed firmware upgrade.

Upgrade the firmware

Upgrade the printer firmware.

  1. Restart the printer.

  2. Download and install the latest firmware from HP Software and Driver Downloads.
