HP LaserJet Pro, HP OfficeJet and OfficeJet Pro 8010, 8020, 9010 and 9020 Series - CenturyLink C4000 and Initial Wireless Printer Connection Issue – Control Panel Solution

Learn how to resolve connectivity issues when using the CenturyLink C4000.

Issue:

Some HP printers are unable to wireless connect to the CenturyLink C4000 modem/routers with default settings.

Note:

Different printer models may have slightly different control panels and menu options that vary slightly from what is written here.

Solution

Use the following steps to help resolve the connectivity issue.

Different printer models may have slightly different control panels and menu options that vary slightly from what is written here.

On the printer control panel, at the home screen, press the Wireless network icon, usually found in the gray menu bar at the top of the screen.
The printer will display a warning that the printer is not connected to any wireless networks. Touch Yes to continue.
The printer will show a list of Wireless networks it can find. The CenturyLink C4000 will most likely not be displayed. Touch the Enter New Network Name button.
On the bottom of the CenturyLink C4000 modem is a label that will have the Wireless Network SSID and Wireless Password. Enter the Wireless Network SSID from the CenturyLink C4000 modem into the printer Control panel in the Enter New Network Name screen

Note:
if you have changed the default Wireless Network SSID and/or the Wireless Network password, you will need access to that information in order to continue to the next steps.

Example only
The printer will search for the entered network. After a few moments, it will return with an error that the network was not found. Touch the Continue button.
Select the WPA Encryption option on the printer control panel. Then enter the Wireless Password found on the label on the bottom of the CenturyLink C4000 modem.
The printer will work to connect to the CenturyLink C4000 modem and display a Connection Successful screen showing the IP address of the printer and other useful information. The printer is now connected the router.
