Wait until the printer returns to a Ready state.
A "Ready" state is indicated either when Ready displays on the control panel, or after the printer finishes initializing and all lights illuminate solid.
Check that the network cable is securely connected to the printer and to the network port:
Gently pull the cable and make sure it does not release unless the clip is depressed.
If the cable connector is broken, make sure the cable is completely inserted, or replace the cable.
Make sure the cable is made for use with an internet jack and that the connector completely fills the network port. If the cable connector is too small for the internet jack, it is intended for a phone jack.
Make sure the computer is connected to the network.
Move the computer's internet cable to another port on the modem and make sure the internet is connected. If there is no internet connectivity, troubleshoot the modem/LAN connection.
Connect the internet cable from the printer into the known, good port just verified at the computer.
Remove any switches, hubs or extenders, and connect the network (Ethernet) cable directly from the wall or modem, if possible.
If the network connection at the printer is blinking orange and red lights, continue to Step two: Check connectivity in the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
If the network connection at the printer is still disconnected, then repeat steps 2-3 above. If the issue persists, contact your system administrator or local network provider.
Follow these steps if your printer has a touchscreen control panel with a black background.
