HP PCs - Enable Virtualization Technology in the BIOS

Learn how to enable or disable hardware virtualization technology on your computer in the BIOS. Virtualization Technology might be required for some features of Windows or other apps to work.

Enable Virtualization Technology on OMEN by HP, Victus by HP, HP Spectre, HP ENVY, and HP Pavilion series PCs

Follow this procedure to enable Virtualization Technology on OMEN by HP, Victus by HP, HP Spectre, HP ENVY, and HP Pavilion series PCs.

  1. Turn on the computer, and then immediately press f10 to open BIOS Setup.

  2. Use the arrow keys to select the Configuration tab, and then select Virtualization Technology.

  3. Select Enable.

  4. Press f10 to save the settings and exit BIOS Setup.

Enable Virtualization Technology on HP EliteBook, HP EliteDesk, HP ZHAN Notebook PCs, and select other business PCs

Follow this procedure to enable Virtualization Technology HP EliteBook, HP EliteDesk, HP ZHAN Notebook PCs, and select other business PCs.

  1. Turn on the computer, and then immediately press f10 to enter BIOS.

  2. Use the arrow keys to select the Advanced tab.

  3. Under the Advanced tab, use the up and down arrows to select System Options, and then press enter.

  4. In the System Options window, select the Virtualization Technology (VTx) box.

  5. Press f10 to save your changes and exit BIOS.

Enable Virtualization Technology on HP workstations and select business PCs

Follow this procedure to enable Virtualization Technology on HP workstations and select business PCs.

  1. Turn on the computer, and then immediately press f10 to enter BIOS.

  2. Under the Security tab, use the up and down arrows to select USB Security, and then press enter.

  3. Use the up and down arrows to select Virtualization Technology (VTx), and then use the left and right arrows to select either Enabled or Disabled.

  4. Press f10 to save your changes and exit BIOS.
