HP DeskJet, ENVY 5000 Printers - Control panel features

The control panel contains buttons and icons to run the printer and a control panel display to select print options.

Control panel buttons and lights

From the control panel display, access the Home button, verify wireless connectivity, and access Help menus.

Power button: Turns the printer on or off.

Back button: Returns to the previous screen. The button lights up when the feature is available.

Help button: Opens the Help menu for the current operation. The button lights up when the feature is available.

Home button: Returns the control panel display to the Home screen, which is the screen that displays when you first turn on the printer. The button lights up when the feature is available.

Control panel display: Touch the screen to select menu options, or swipe across the display with your finger to scroll through the menus.

Wireless status light:Indicates the status of the printer wireless connection. A solid blue light indicates that a wireless connection is established and that you can print wirelessly. If the wireless feature is turned off, the wireless light is off and the Wireless Summary screen displays Wireless Off.

Touch the control panel display to select print, copy, and scan options from the main menu. Swipe your finger across the display to scroll through the menus.

Copy: Open the Copy menu to select a copy type or change the copy settings.

Scan: Open the Scan To menu to select a destination for your scan.

Setup: Open the Setup menu to change preferences and use tools to perform maintenance tasks.

Wi-Fi Direct icon: Open the Wi-Fi Direct Details menu to turn on or off Wi-Fi Direct printing and display the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.

HP ePrint icon: Open the Web Services Summary menu to check HP ePrint status details, change HP ePrint settings, or print a Web Services Information page.

Wireless icon: Open the Wireless Summary menu to check the wireless status and change wireless settings. You can print a wireless test report to help diagnose network connection issues.

Ink icon: Touch to display estimated ink levels by ink cartridge. The icon displays a warning symbol if the ink level is less than the minimum expected ink level.

Help: Open the Help menu to view how-to videos, printer feature information, and tips.
