Replace the printhead in HP OfficeJet Pro 7720, 7730, 7740 Wide Format printers

Replace a damaged or faulty printhead assembly in HP OfficeJet Pro 7720, 7730, and 7740 Wide Format All-in-One printers.

Replacement printhead model number: M0H91A

Purchase a printhead

Purchase a printhead from an authorized service provider or from the HP website.

  1. Go to the HP Parts Store (in English).

  2. Select your country/region at the top of the webpage.

  3. Enter the part number into the Find your part field.

  4. Follow the instructions to order the printhead.

Replace the printhead

Remove the faulty printhead, and then install the new replacement in an HP OfficeJet Pro 7720, 7730, or 7740 Wide Format printer.

  1. With the printer on, open the ink cartridge access door, and then wait until the carriage stops.

  2. Lift the carriage latch handle to unlock the printhead.

  3. Without removing the ink cartridges, grasp the sides of the printhead, and then lift the printhead and pull it toward you.

    Note:

    To avoid ink stains, do not touch the bottom of the printhead.

  4. Place the printhead face-up on a sheet of paper, and then set it aside.

  5. Remove the new printhead from the package.

    CAUTION:

    Do not to touch the printhead electrical contacts or nozzles to avoid damaging them.

  6. Holding the printhead by its sides with the electrical contacts facing into the printer, insert it into the carriage.

  7. Carefully lower the carriage latch handle until it clicks into place.

  8. Install the Setup cartridges that came with the replacement printhead.

    Note:

    You must install the Setup ink cartridges, or an ink cartridge error occurs.

  9. Load plain white paper into the input tray.

  10. Close the cartridge access door, and then follow any instructions to align the printer if prompted.

Return the failed parts to HP

Return the failed parts to HP, or recycle them.

  1. Place the old printhead with the ink cartridges installed into the plastic package.

  2. Put the plastic package that contains the old parts, the form that came with the new parts, an example print page showing the issue, if available, into the provided post-paid padded mailer, and then mail the package.
