DESCRIPTION
Select HP ZBook Create/Studio/Fury G7 and G8 Mobile Workstations PCs are equipped with a higher performing CPU / GPU processor to provide users with optimal performance and processing power. Some users may notice their device thermals may be higher than expected, and this is due to higher-performing processors and the thin product design. HP assures the end-user that these thermal levels are within specification and pass UL safety requirements. Read details below to better understand thermal behavior and how you can help your system balance thermal levels.

RESOLUTION
The system may operate at higher levels to provide users with premium-level performance when computing intensive applications or utilizing heavy graphics. The user can help reduce thermals by practicing the following tips:
The following tips are specific to the ZBook G7/G8 products:
  • Check/Enable BIOS F10 option: Fan Always on While on AC Power (unchecked/disabled by default):
F10 Settings\Advanced Tab\Built In Devices Menu\Fan Always on While on AC Power
  • (Select configurations)
Check/Enable Energy Efficient Turbo (unchecked/disabled by default):
    F10 Settings\Advanced\System Options\Energy Efficient Turbo
The following tips are general to notebook computers:
  • Close out of applications that you are not using or do not need.
  • Check Windows Task Manager for applications that continuously use processing power in the background and end task.
  • Ensure your system is being operated on a hard, table-like surface with sufficient room for ventilation.
  • Do not place the computer close to objects that can block the fan air outlet or inlet, such as a wall or a stack of books.
  • Do not use a laptop keyboard cover, as the cover limits the airflow for the cooling fan.
  • Clean the vents and inspect the fans as dust and debris can accumulate in and around the air vents over time, obstructing the airflow and causing the fans to work harder than normal to remove the heat.
  • Monitor the temperature in the room. A lower room temperature increases the amount of CPU and GPU utilization at lower internal temperatures.
