HP Commercial Notebook PCs - Network Connection Drops When Using Certain HP USB-C to RJ45 Adapters

DESCRIPTION
Computers without a built-in network port using certain HP USB-C to RJ45 Adapters, may experience one of the following issues:
Issue 1: 855474-001 SPS:855560-001 - HP USB-C to RJ45 Adapter Rev-A
Using 855474-001 SPS:855560-001 - HP USB-C to RJ45 Adapter Rev-A with System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) may result in losing a network connection. This issue occurs after the first reboot of the computer image deployment.

Issue 2: 855474-001 SPS:855560-001 - HP USB-C to RJ45 Adapter Rev-B
Using 855474-001 SPS:855560-001 - HP USB-C to RJ45 Adapter Rev-Bmay lose network connection after the first reboot. The second issue occurs when enabling MAC Address Pass-Thru (MAPT). Host Base MAC Address (HBMA) will not work properly since the MAC address supplied is from the 855474-001 SPS:855560-001 - HP USB-C to RJ45 Adapter Rev-B and not the computer.

NOTE: HP USB-C to RJ45, 855307-003 is not impacted by the listed issue.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, perform the following procedures:
Procedure 1: Download and install the prerequisites
  1. Update the BIOS to the appropriate version for the affected platform.

Once the prerequisites have been installed, perform the following procedure:

  1. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. Navigate to the folder where the file was unbundled and double-click the EF_UPGRADE.exe file and follow the onscreen instructions.
  3. The Patch Upgrade dialog screen displays. Click Patch Upgrade.

  1. Click OK to continue.

Additional Information:
NOTE: This upgrade tool will only flash the dongle once. (The softpaq tool can be executed without any changes or damage to the USB-C to RJ45 Adapter. If there is uncertainty that the USB-C to RJ45 Adapter has been flashed, just rerun the Upgrade Tool again.) Please mark the USB-C to RJ45 Adapter to keep track of upgraded adapters.
NOTE: This tool is not SCCM Compliant and will fail and will not complete the process.
Part of the Process when executing the Upgrade Tool is resetting the USB-C to RJ45 Adapter which happens when the adapter is unplugged, upgrading another USB-C to RJ45 Adapter, and then repeating the process.
This would cause the Upgrade Tool to fail and the network connection to drop, causing the deployment to also fail if the SCCM TS is used to deploy this process.
