DETAILS OF CHANGE
Effective August 1 st, 2019, HP is changing the BIOS configuration on HP Z workstations that come with Windows 10. The new software addition and updates are being made available for download from HP’s support Web site for owners of existing Z2 G4, Z4 G4, Z6 G4, and Z8 G4 series workstations.
HP Z2 G4 series workstations BIOS 01.05.05 has the following enhancements added:
  • Further improves stability of PCR 01 values.
  • Fixes an issue where system could hang when attempting to update BIOS in certain Linux configurations.
  • Fixes an issue where system would not display Chassis Fan Not Detected error for certain configurations that require a front chassis fan.
HP Z4 G4 series workstations BIOS 1.82 has the following enhancements added:
  • Updates Intel RAID Option ROM/Driver to v6.1.0.1017.
  • Updates Intel VROC Option ROM/Driver to v6.1.0.1017.
  • Updates Intel TXT BIOS ACM to v1.7.1.
  • Updates Intel TXT SINIT ACM to v1.7.1.
  • Updates UEFI-based Hardware Diagnostics to v1.25.
  • Adds support for Linux BIOS tools Version 3.
  • Adds BIOS Event Log which stores POST errors, BIOS management events, disk EOL events, anti-theft events, and SMC events in non-volatile storage.
  • Adds Device Ignore List setup option to ignore problematic devices during enumeration.
  • Adds support for Pyrite NVMe DriveLock functionality.
  • Adds support for UTF-8 coding with Serial-Over-LAN.
  • Adds a file browser for F10 Replicated Setup.
  • Adds F10 and WMI setting for HP Application Driver.
  • Adds F10 and WMI setting to block OPAL SID Authentication.
  • Adds WMI setting to Prompt for Admin password on Capsule Update.
  • Adds ability to confirm presence of Setup and Power-On passwords using Hp-repset and WMI.
  • Adds ACS enablement for built-in PCIe switch on certain AMD graphics cards.
  • Improves error messaging when BIOS rollback is denied by system policy in certain situations.
  • Increases volume of internal speaker.
  • Disables USB Type C port on Nvidia RTX graphics cards when rear USB ports are disabled through F10 Setup or WMI.
  • Fixes an issue where system would not boot to SD Card if USB boot was disabled.
  • Fixes an issue where system would not boot to USB device in Legacy mode unless USB device was first boot option.
  • Fixes an issue where system would not boot with certain SAS cards installed.
  • Fixes an issue where system could experience an infinite reboot loop when disabling AMT.
  • Fixes an issue where system would hang after disabling all Option ROMs in Legacy Mode.
  • Fixes an issue where system could hang during boot with certain PCIe cards in Legacy mode.
  • Fixes an issue where system could hang during boot in certain configurations with Premium Front IO.
HP Z4 G4 for Core-X series workstations BIOS 1.81 has the following enhancements added:
  • Updates Intel RAID Option ROM/Driver to v6.1.0.1017.
  • Updates UEFI-based Hardware Diagnostics to v1.25.
  • Adds support for Linux BIOS tools Version 3.

  • Adds support for Pyrite NVMe DriveLock functionality.
  • Adds support for UTF-8 coding with Serial-Over-LAN.
  • Adds a file browser for F10 Replicated Setup.
  • Adds F10 and WMI setting for HP Application Driver.
  • Adds F10 and WMI setting to block OPAL SID Authentication.
  • Includes multiple enhancements to BIOS Event Log.
  • Improves error messaging when BIOS rollback is denied by system policy in certain situations.
  • Improves fan control for M.2 devices in Adapter Modules (Z8 G4 only).
  • Increases volume of internal speaker.
  • Disables USB Type C port on Nvidia RTX graphics cards when rear USB ports are disabled through F10 Setup or WMI.
  • Fixes an issue where Boot Menu would be blank with certain USB drive keys installed.
  • Fixes an issue where system would not boot to SD Card if USB boot was disabled.
  • Fixes an issue where system would not boot to USB device in Legacy mode unless USB device was first boot option.
  • Fixes an issue where system could experience an infinite reboot loop when disabling AMT.
  • Fixes an issue where system could experience an infinite reboot loop when attempting to roll back to v01.XX BIOS.
  • Fixes an issue where system would hang after disabling all Option ROMs in Legacy Mode.
  • Fixes an issue where system could hang during boot with certain PCIe cards in Legacy mode.
  • Fixes an issue where system could hang during boot in certain configurations with Premium Front IO.
