Use the following procedure to clear a paper jam in Tray 1.
When a jam occurs, the control panel displays an error message (2-line control panels) or an animation (touchscreen control panels) that assists in clearing the jam.

note:If the sheet tears, remove all fragments before resuming printing.

If you can see the jammed sheet in Tray 1, remove the jammed sheet by pulling it straight out.Figure : Remove any jammed paper from Tray 1

If you cannot see the jammed sheet, close Tray 1, and then remove Tray 2.Figure : Open Tray 2 and remove it from the printer

At the left side of the Tray 2 cavity, press the tab to lower the tray plate, and then remove any paper. Remove the jammed sheet by gently pulling it straight out.Figure : Lower the tray plate and remove any jammed paper

Push the tray plate back up into place.Figure : Push the tray plate back into place

Reinstall and close Tray 2.Figure : Reinstall and close Tray 2

Reopen Tray 1 and load paper into the tray.Figure : Reopen Tray 1 and load paper in the tray
