Step 2: Prepare for installation
Make sure your printer is turned on and your mobile device or computer is on the same wireless network you want to connect the printer to.

To use your printer on a wireless network, you need the following items:

A compatible computer or mobile device connected to your wireless network

Internet access
-

Make sure the router and computer or mobile device are turned on.

Make sure the computer or mobile device is connected to the same wireless network to which you want to connect the printer.

Set up the printer, load paper into the input tray, and install the ink cartridges. For more information about setting up the printer, go to First Time Printer Setup.

Turn on the printer and place it close to the computer and within range of the router during the setup procedure.
Step 3: Connect the printer to your wireless network
Use WPS or HP Smart to establish a wireless connection between your printer and network.
Connect the printer with WPS
If your router supports WPS, use these steps to connect your printer to your wireless network with the WPS button on the router.

Turn on the printer.

Locate the WPS button on your router, but do not press it yet.If your router does not support WPS, skip to the next step to connect the printer with the HP Smart app.

On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wireless button
and Power button 
at the same time for 5 seconds.

On the router, press and hold the WPS button for 3 to 5 seconds or until it shows that the WPS connection process has started.
note:
The printer stops searching for a WPS connection two minutes after the wireless button is pressed. If you were unable to press the WPS button within that timeframe, attempt these steps again.Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid. -
Open the HP Smart app, and then click Add Printer or Plus sign
.
HP Smart searches for printers in wireless setup mode or printers that are already on your wireless network. -
Select your printer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
After successful setup, you can now print, scan, or manage printer preferences, messages, and supplies in HP Smart app.
Connect the printer with the HP Smart app
Use the HP Smart app to connect the printer to your wireless network from computer with Windows 10 or macOS, or an Android or Apple mobile device.
Android mobile device
Use HP Smart to connect the printer to your wireless network.

On your Android device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
note:
Allow Bluetooth and location permissions, if prompted. -
Download and install HP Smart from 123.hp.com.

On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for 5 seconds.
The Edge lighting flashes blue.
note:
You must complete the network setup within two hours. -
On your Android mobile device, open HP Smart, and then tap the Plus sign.

Tap Add Printer.A list of available printers displays.

Tap your printer. The printer name contains 'Setup' and the model number, such as HP-Setup<1F_Tango_X.

Follow the on-screen instructions to type the WEP or WPA key (network password).If you do not know your network password, go to Find Your Wireless WEP, WPA, WPA2 Password.

After the printer connects to your wireless network, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid.
iOS mobile device
Use HP Smart to connect the printer to your wireless network.

On your iOS device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
note:
Allow Bluetooth and location permissions, if prompted. -
Download and install HP Smart (in English) from App Store.

On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for 5 seconds.
The Edge lighting flashes blue.

You must complete the network setup within two hours. -
On your iOS device, open HP Smart.

If a printer setup notification displays, tap the notification. Otherwise, tap the Plus sign to add your printer.

On the Printers screen, tap HP Tango.

Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your wireless network.

After the printer connects to your wireless network, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid.
Windows 10
Use HP Smart to connect the printer to your wireless network.

Turn on the printer.

On your computer, download and install HP Smart (in English) from the Microsoft store.

On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for 5 seconds.
The Edge lighting flashes blue.
note:
You must complete the network setup within two hours. -
On your computer, open HP Smart, and then click Add Printer or Plus sign.

Select your printer, and then click Continue.

Click Continue on Access Wi-Fi password for network SSID prompt, or follow the on-screen instructions to type the WEP or WPA key (network password).If you do not know your network password, go to Find Your Wireless WEP, WPA, WPA2 Password.

After the printer connects to your wireless network, click Continue, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid.
macOS
Use HP Smart to connect the printer to your wireless network.

Turn on the printer.

On your Mac, download and install HP Smart from 123.hp.com.

On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for 5 seconds.

On your Mac, open HP Smart, and then click Add Printer or Plus sign.
