d.
Further information will be found in the next steps. Follow the steps listed below to accurately troubleshoot the issue:
Troubleshooting steps:
1. Make sure the cutter option is ENABLED on the front panel in case the printer is not cutting.
2. Make sure the proper media preset is selected on the front panel (Paper Menu). NOTE: The printer knows if the type of paper that is loaded is suitable for the automatic paper-cutter. The paper is cut if it is suitable. If the paper is not suitable, a manual cut will be needed. NOTE: The cutter feature is disabled for some of the heaviest media types because some heavy papers can damage the cutter.

3. Make sure the take-up reel (not available for all models) is NOT enabled. The cutter will not work if it is enabled (Paper Menu).
4. Use a dry brush to remove ink deposits from the cutter groove. If the groove is not clean, cutting issues may appear.
5. Use a damp cloth to clean the cutter ramp. If the ramp is not clean, cutting issues may appear.
6. Use a damp cloth to clean the Encoder Strip. If the strip is not clean, cutting issues may appear.
7. Use synthetic oil on the rod (either side of the carriage). If the rod is not oiled, cutting issues may appear.
8. If any cutting issue persists or if more assistance is needed please contact your HP representative or call HP Technical Support. Contact HP if cutter removal and installation instructions are needed: in case it needs to be meticulously checked or in case it needs to be definitely replaced. Part number for the cutter is subject to change.
