HP Designjet 30 and 130 Series - When and How to Perform Color Calibration

Issue

This documents describes how to perform color calibration using the HP Designjet System Maintenance Utility or HP Designjet System Maintenance Tool.

Solution

Purpose of color calibration:
Calibrate color performs a maintenance function to ensure color consistency.
When to perform color calibration:
  • It is recommended that you calibrate color every time you replace one or more printheads, or when you perceive color degradation on the printouts.
  • When you use a new paper type/print quality combination for the first time.
  • Whenever environmental conditions change (for example, temperature or humidity).
note:
  • There is no need to perform this operation each time you print.
  • The results of the color calibration will be applied to all print jobs that follow, even when the printer is powered off.
How to perform color calibration:
  1. Open the System Maintenance Utility.
    Complete the instructions that follow to open the HP Designjet System Maintenance window:
    1. Click Start, and open the Printers folder.
    2. Right-click the HP Designjet printer, and then click printing preferences.
    3. Select the Services tab, and then click Status of my Printer.
      The System Maintenance window will now open.
      OR
    1. Double-click HP Designjet System Maintenance on the desktop. The window that follows opens:
    2. Select the printer, either under the Local tab or under the Network tab depending on the connectivity, and then click Next. The System Maintenance window opens:
  2. Click Calibrate Color (under maintenance on the left). It opens the page that follows:
    Check to ensure that a blank sheet of letter paper or roll of the relevant paper type is loaded into appropriate paper source in the printer.
  3. Choose the appropriate paper type, print quality, and paper source.
  4. Click the Calibrate Color button to begin the color calibration process.
