HP Designjet 4500 MFP/820 MFP/T1100 MFP/T1120 HD/4520 HD MFP/T1200 HD MFP/HD Scanner Series Scanner - How to Find the MAC Address of the Touchscreen/Scanner
Issue:
Many government agencies need to know the MAC address of devices that are or will be on their Local Area Network. The Designjet 4500 scanner series does not have a simple means of displaying its MAC address.
Solution
First, the scanner needs to be setup on the Local Area Network and have a IP address already assigned (via static IP address or DHCP assigned IP address).
Next, perform the following steps to determine the scanner's MAC address:
From a workstation that is on the same network as the scanner, open a command prompt (Click on Start -> Run and type cmd and press Enter).
From the command prompt, type ping <IP Address of scanner> and press Enter.
note:
This step MUST be performed. If the scanner is pinged successfully, continue with the remaining steps. If the ping is unsuccessful, troubleshoot the network.
From the command prompt, type arp -a and press Enter.
Scroll through the list and look for the scanner's IP address. The MAC address will be listed next to the scanner's IP address.
