HP Designjet - Mac OS X v10.4, HP RIP Quits Unexpectedly and /or Does Not Install all of the Features

Error Occurs Unexpectedly

When installing the RIP software in OS 10.4, the installer quits unexpectedly. The RIP software may appear to function properly, however a number of features may not have been properly installed. This includes the System Maintenance Utility, ICC output profiles, Input profiles and aliases on the desktop. Affected Printers and Postscript RIPs:
  • HP Designjet 10/20 PS
  • HP Designjet 120
  • HP Designjet 30/130
Issues
The System Maintenance Utility does not appear to be installed, or will not launch properly
The installer quits before the System Maintenance Utility installer could be launched. The installer could also have quit before the System Maintenance Utility installer was finished.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, perform the following steps.
  1. Open a new Finder window and navigate to the /Library/Printers/hp/hp designjet system maintenance folder. Drag this folder to the trash.
  2. Navigate to the /Library/Printers/hp/utilities folder. If the folder is there, drag this folder to the Trash.
  3. Empty the Trash can. If an error occurs while emptying the Trash, perform the following steps:
    1. Restart the Macintosh.
    2. Empty the Trash. If this does not empty the trash, contact Apple Computer to assist with emptying the Trash.
  4. Once the Trash has successfully been emptied, restart the Macintosh.
  5. Launch the Disk Utility (Located in the folder). Repair the disk permissions on the startup volume.
  6. Insert the RIP CD. Navigate to the Install/Util/hp designjet xxx.Dir folder. Within this folder there is an icon titled hp sys maint install. Launch this file by double clicking on it.
  7. This will install the System Maintenance Utility.
  8. If the installer quits again, or the System Maintenance Utility will not function, contact your Customer Care Center. Please note that a support charge may apply for out of warranty products.
