Solution

Step one: Delete all of the temporary files on the computer

  1. Open the Temp folder:
    • Windows XP and 2000: On the Windows taskbar, click Start, click Run, and then type %temp% in the Open box.
    • Window Vista: On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), type %temp% in the Start Search box, and then click the Temp folder.
  2. Click Edit, and then click Select All.
  3. Under File and Folder Tasks, click Delete the selected items.
      atención:
An 'Access is denied' error might occur. If so, click to close the error message, and then continue deleting the remaining files.

Step two: Copy the installation files to the hard drive

  1. Right-click Start and then click Explore. The Windows Explorer window opens.
  2. Locate and select the CD-ROM drive letter that contains the software CD-ROM in the left pane. This opens the contents of the CD-ROM in the right pane.
  3. Click Edit, then Select All.
  4. Click Edit, then Copy.
    nota:
Do not copy the CD-ROM to the Windows Desktop.
  5. Select the C:\ hard disk drive in the left pane to open the contents of that drive on the right.
  6. Click File, point to New, and then click Folder. Name the folder hpdisk.
  7. Double-click the new hpdisk folder to open it, click Edit, and then Paste. The contents of the CD-ROM will be copied into the folder. Leave Windows Explorer open when it is finished.

Step three: Delete all of the temporary files on the computer again

  1. Follow the procedure in Step 1 to delete all of the temporary files on the computer.
  2. After deleting all of the temporary files, continue to the next step.

Step four: Install the software from the hard drive

  1. Return to the hpdisk folder in Windows Explorer and double-click the Setup executable file.
  2. The installer will launch and the installation process will begin. Follow the instructions that display to install the software.
If copying the software CD-ROM to the hard drive does not resolve the issue, try one of the following:
  • If the computer has more than one CD-ROM drive, insert the CD-ROM into another drive, and then complete Step One through Step Four above. If the computer has only one CD-ROM drive, insert the CD-ROM into a drive on another computer.
  • Download the software from the HP Web site (www.hp.com), and then complete Step Three through Step Four above.
