Samsung SCX-5330, SCX-5530, SCX-5535 Laser MFP - Clearing Paper Jams

This document shows you how to clear a paper jam in the printer. When a paper jam occurs, Paper Jam displays on the control panel.

Refer to the table below to locate and clear the paper jam.

caution:
To avoid tearing the paper, pull the jammed paper out gently and slowly. Follow the instructions in the following sections to clear the jam.

Jam in tray 1

If paper is jammed in tray 1, use these steps to release the jammed paper.

Open and close the front cover. The jammed paper is automatically ejected from the printer.
Pull tray 1 open.

Remove the jammed paper by gently pulling it straight out.

If the paper does not move when you pull, or if you do not see the paper in this area, check the fuser area around the toner cartridge.
Insert tray 1 back into the printer. Printing automatically resumes.

If paper is jammed in the optional tray, use the steps to release the jammed paper.

Pull the optional tray open.
Remove the jammed paper from the printer.

If the paper does not move when you pull, or if you do not see the paper in this area, stop and go to the next step.
Pull tray 1 half way open.
Pull the paper straight up and out.

Insert the trays back into the printer. Printing automatically resumes.

If paper is jammed in the multi-purpose tray, use the steps to release the jammed paper.

If the paper is not feeding properly, pull the paper out of the printer.

Open and close the front cover to resume printing.

If paper is jammed in the fuser area or around the toner cartridge, use the steps to release the jammed paper.

caution:
The fuser area is hot. Use caution when removing paper from the printer.

Open the front cover and pull the toner cartridge out, lightly pushing it down.

Remove the jammed paper by gently pulling it straight out.

Replace the toner cartridge and close the front cover. Printing automatically resumes.

If paper is jammed in the paper exit area, use the steps to release the jammed paper.

Open and close the front cover. The jammed paper is automatically ejected from the printer.
Gently pull the paper out of the output tray.

If you cannot find the jammed paper, or if there is any resistance removing the paper, stop pulling and go to the next step.
Open the rear cover.
If you see the jammed paper, push the pressure lever (1) on each side up and remove the paper. Return the pressure levers to their original position and skip to the last step.

If you still do not see the paper, go to the next step.
Release the white strip, the rear cover stopper (1), and fully open the rear cover (2).

Unfold the duplex guide (1) fully.

While pushing the fuser lever (1) to the right, open the fuser door (2).

Pull the jammed paper out.

If the jammed paper does not move when you pull, push the pressure lever (1) on each side up to loosen the paper, and then remove it.

Return the lever, door, stopper, and guide to their original position.
Close the rear cover. Printing automatically resumes.

If the duplex unit is not inserted correctly, a paper jam may occur. Make sure the duplex unit is inserted correctly.

If Duplex Jam 0 displays on the control panel, use the steps to release the jammed paper.

Pull the duplex unit (1) out of the printer.

Remove the jammed paper from the duplex unit.

If the paper does not come out with the duplex unit, remove the paper from the bottom of the printer.

If Duplex Jam 1 displays on the control panel, use the steps to release the jammed paper.
