HP Commercial Desktop PCs - Dual Scan Feature Causes Windows Update to Fail on Microsoft Windows 10 20H1 (version 2004)

DESCRIPTION
Windows Update automatic background scan will silently fail to detect, or install any updates. In Windows Update settings, the " Check for updates" feature will also fail with error code 0x80240036. This issue is limited to computers that are configured with Dual Scan feature.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, refer to the following link to download and install KB4556803 from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

To work around this issue, Dual Scan can be disabled in the Windows Group Policy or Configuration Service Provider (CSP). Refer to the following link for more details on how to disable Dual scan.
