HP Consumer PCs – System BIOS displays incorrect memory specifications

If your system uses LPDDR5X or LPDDR4X memory, your system BIOS displays an incorrect memory type because of BIOS limitations.

HP BIOS uses SMBIOS specifications, which are industry-wide specifications. Currently, SMBIOS defines a 23h byte value as LPDDR5 memory and an 1Eh byte value as LPDDR4 memory. It does not define LPDDR5X or LPDDR4X memory.

If your system uses LPDDR5X or LPDDR4X memory, this memory type is listed on the label on the box for the system.

Checking the memory specificaitons on the label

Be sure to confirm the memory type on this label before replacing or upgrading memory in the system.
