HP PCs - Free disk space is reduced when OneDrive syncs from online storage

After you set up the computer and connect to an existing OneDrive account, OneDrive syncs with your other PCs and begins to download files and folders from your online storage to the local storage on your PC. Depending on the folders selected in OneDrive and the amount of available storage on your PC, the sync process might cause issues with the speed of your PC and the availability of free disk space.

To prevent OneDrive from using too much disk space on your PC, configure which folders are available locally. For more information about OneDrive, see OneDrive help & learning.

Choose which OneDrive folders sync to your computer

Use the following procedure to select OneDrive folders to sync your computer.

  1. To open OneDrive settings, select the OneDrive icon in your notification area, select the OneDrive Help & Settings icon , and then select Settings.

  2. Select the Account tab.

  3. Select Choose Folders.

  4. Clear the check boxes for any folders that you do not want to sync to your computer.

  5. To confirm your changes, select OK, and then select OK again.
