Learn about the print tasks that are available when printing from a software program in Windows.
Not all features apply to all printers. Please check the printer user guide for specific features that are available on the printer.
Follow these steps to print from an Office application or app in Windows.
From the Office app, select the Print option.
Select the printer from the list of printers. To change settings, click Properties, Printer Properties, or Preferences to open the print driver.
Each Windows version will have a different layout with different features for desktop applications.
Click the tabs in the print driver to configure the available options.
For example, set the paper orientation on the Finishing tab, and set the paper source, paper type, paper size, and quality settings on the Paper/Quality tab.
Click OK to return to the Print dialog box, and then select the number of copies to print from this screen.
Click Print to print the job.
For printer models that have an automatic duplexer installed, follow these steps to automatically print on both sides.
If the printer does not have an automatic duplexer installed, or to print on paper types that the duplexer does not support, skip to the next section for instructions on how to manually print on both sides.

Select the printer from the list of printers. To change settings, click Properties, Printer Properties, or Preferences to open the print driver.

Click the Finishing tab.
Select Print on both sides, and then click OK to close the printer settings or Document Properties dialog box.
In the Print dialog box, click Print to print the job.
For printers that do not have an automatic duplexer installed, or to print on paper that is not supported by the automatic duplexer, follow these steps to manually print on both sides.
From the Office app, select the Print option.
Select the printer from the list of printers. To change settings, click Properties, Printer Properties, or Preferences to open the print driver.

Click the Finishing tab.
Select Print on both sides (manually), and then click OK to close the printer settings or Document Properties dialog box.
In the Print dialog box, click Print to print the first side of the job.
Retrieve the printed stack from the output bin, and place it in Tray 1.
If prompted, select the appropriate printer control panel button to continue.
Follow these steps to print multiple pages onto one sheet of paper.
From the Office app, select the Print option.
Select the printer from the list of printers. To change settings, click Properties, Printer Properties, or Preferences to open the print driver.

Click the Finishing tab.
From the Pages per sheet drop-down list, select the number of pages per sheet.
Select the Print page borders, Page order, and Orientation options, and then click OK to close the printer settings or Document Properties dialog box.
In the Print dialog box, click Print to print the job.
Follow these steps to select the type of paper that is being used for the print job.
From the Office app, select the Print option.
Select the printer from the list of printers. To change settings, click Properties, Printer Properties, or Preferences to open the print driver.

Click the Paper/Quality tab.
From the Paper type drop-down list, select the paper type, and then click OK to close the printer settings or Document Properties dialog box.
In the Print dialog, click Print to print the job.
If the tray needs to be configured, a tray configuration message will display on the printer control panel.
Load the tray with the specified type and size of paper, and then close the tray.
Touch the OK button on the printer control panel to accept the detected type and size, or touch the Modify button to choose a different paper type or size.
After selecting the correct paper type and size, touch the OK button to confirm.
