DETAILS OF CHANGE
Effective June 3, 2019, HP is changing the BIOS configuration on HP Z workstations that come with Windows 10. The new software addition and updates are being made available for download from HP’s support Web site for owners of existing Z2 G4, Z4 G4, Z6 G4, Z8 G4, Z240, Z440, Z640, and Z840 series workstations.
HP Z2 G4 series workstations BIOS 01.05.01 has the following enhancements added:
  • Includes enhancements to mitigate security vulnerabilities CVE-2018-12126, CVE-2018-12127 and CVE-2018-12130.
  • Updates Intel Microcode to M22906EA_000000B4, M02906EB_000000B4, M22906EC_000000A2 and M22906ED_000000B4.
  • Updates Intel Reference Code to v7.00.5C.50.
  • Adds support for Intel 9th generation Core processor product family and Intel Xeon processor E3-2200 product family.
  • Fixes an issue where pressing the power button would reset system during TPM firmware update.
  • Fixes an issue where IPv4 option would be missing from Boot Order menu after Network BIOS Update.
  • Fixes an issue where system would not boot after disabling UEFI Boot Order and then disabling Legacy Support and Secure Boot.
  • Fixes an issue where system would not boot after removing PCIe cards in certain configurations.
  • Fixes an issue where system could reboot under extreme loading in certain configurations.
  • Fixes multiple issues with DriveLock settings and passwords on NVMe devices.
  • Fixes an issue where Physical Presence Interface prompt would appear when attempting to disable SGX after disabling Physical Presence Interface.
HP Z4 G4 series workstations BIOS 1.76 has the following enhancements added:
  • Includes enhancements to mitigate security vulnerabilities CVE-2018-12126, CVE-2018-12127, CVE-2018-12130, CVE-2019-119 and CVE-2019-126.
  • HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version.
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0x5E.
  • Fixes an issue where system fails to boot with certain NVMe devices formatted with 4K sectors.
  • Fixes an issue where the system would not boot from HP Z Turbo Drive Quad Pro in certain configurations.
  • Fixes an issue where system could experience an infinite reboot loop if AMT is disabled after AMT is provisioned.
HP Z4 G4 for Core-X series workstations BIOS 1.76 has the following enhancements added:
  • Includes enhancements to mitigate security vulnerabilities CVE-2018-12126, CVE-2018-12127, CVE-2018-12130, CVE-2019-119 and CVE-2019-126.
  • HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version.
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0x5E.
  • Fixes an issue where system fails to boot with certain NVMe devices formatted with 4K sectors.
  • Fixes an issue where the system would not boot from HP Z Turbo Drive Quad Pro in certain configurations.
HP Z6 G4 and Z8 G4 series workstations BIOS 2.19 has the following enhancements added:
  • Includes enhancements to mitigate security vulnerabilities CVE-2018-12126, CVE-2018-12127, CVE-2018-12130, CVE-2019-119 and CVE-2019-126.
  • HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version.
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0x5E.
  • Updates Intel Xeon SP Second Generation CPU Microcode to 0x24.
  • Fixes an issue where system fails to boot with certain NVMe devices formatted with 4K sectors.
HP Z240 series workstations BIOS 1.76 has the following enhancements added:
  • Includes enhancements to mitigate security vulnerabilities CVE-2018-6622, CVE-2018-12126, CVE-2018-12127, and CVE-2018-12130.
  • HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version.
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0xCC for Intel 6th generation Core processor product family and Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 v5 product family.
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0xB4 for Intel 7th generation Core processor product family and Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 v6 product family.
  • Updates SIO firmware to v4.13.28.
  • Fixes an issue where system would not enter F10 Setup menu with certain PS/2 keyboards.
  • Fixes an issue where system would experience a 3.2 beep code and fail to boot after removing PCIe cards in certain configurations.
HP Z440, Z640, and Z840 series workstations BIOS 2.48 has the following enhancements added:
  • Includes enhancements to mitigate security vulnerabilities CVE-2018-6622, CVE-2018-12126, CVE-2018-12127, and CVE-2018-12130.
  • HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version.
  • Updates Intel processor microcode to 0x43 for Xeon E5 v3 processors and 0x36 for Xeon E5 v4 processors.
