Troubleshoot 50.xx (fuser failure) messages

This document provides information about how to resolve common error messages related to fuser failures. It does not contain all of the possible error codes for HP LaserJet Pro printers.
The following are some common fuser control panel messages and event codes for HP LaserJet printers.
  • 50.00 = Generic Fuser error
  • 50.10 = Low Fuser temperature error
  • 50.20 = Slow fuser error
  • 50.30 = High fuser temperature error
  • 50.70 = Fuser open error
If a 50.xx error message appears on the control panel, try the following steps.
  1. Reset the printer:
    1. Turn off the power by using the power switch, and then wait at least 30 seconds.
    2. Turn on the power and wait for the printer to initialize.
  2. If you are using a surge protector:
    1. Power off the printer.
    2. Remove the surge protector.
    3. Plug the printer directly into the wall socket and turn the printer power on.
  3. If the error message persists after restarting the printer, the fuser needs to be replaced. contact HP support: www.hp.com/go/support.
