Note:
This process ensures that the toner does not leak inside the printer while it is moved and during storage, the waste toner
does not solidify in the waste toner system.

Prepare printer for shipping or storage using the control panel
Follow these steps to prepare the printer for shipping or storage using the control panel.
Step one: Start a cleaning process to transfer excess toner
Learn how to use the control panel to initiate a cleaning process to transfer excess toner into the toner collection unit.
Note:
The control panel display menu options might vary depending on the printer model and firmware version installed.

From the Home screen on the control panel, select the Support Tools menu, and then select the following menus:

Select the Prepare for Shipping option.

Note:
After pressing Start, the printer will remove all waste toner from the cartridges and the Toner Auger Assembly.

Wait for the process to complete.
Step two: Remove cartridges
Learn how to remove cartridges for the printers.

Remove the cartridges from the printer.

For printers that have all-in-one cartridges, remove the four cartridges.

For printers that have separate imaging drum and toner cartridges, remove all eight cartridges.
The instructions below to remove the toner cartridges might vary depending on the printer.

Open the front door.

Remove the toner cartridge or imaging drum.
-
To remove the toner cartridge: Grasp the handle of the toner cartridge and pull it straight out from the printer.

To remove the imaging drum: Grasp the end of the imaging drum cartridge and pull it straight out from the printer.

Close the front door.

Guidelines when moving a printer
Use the following guidelines when moving a printer:

Make sure to remove all paper from the trays.

Turn off the printer, and then wait for 30 seconds.

Disconnect all network cables from the printer.
-
Unplug the power cord of the printer from its power source.

Keep the printer in an upright position.
