Learn how to configure the default options for fax send jobs using the HP Embedded Web Server.

To override the default settings for a specific job, adjust the job settings on the printer control panel.

Note:

Default settings are shared across all fax methods; analog, LAN, and internet fax.

Follow the steps below to access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) and then configure the default options for fax send jobs.

Step one: Access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Follow these steps to obtain the printer's IP address and then use it to access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) from a web browser.

Note:

The steps vary according to the type of control panel.

HP FutureSmart 3 touchscreen control panel

HP FutureSmart 4 and 5 touchscreen control panel

Obtain the printer's IP address.
- HP FutureSmart 3: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Network icon to display the IP address or host name.
- HP FutureSmart 4 and 5: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Information icon , and then touch the Network icon to display the IP address or host name.
Open the HP Embedded Web Server:
1. On your computer, open a Web browser, and in the address bar, type the printer's IP address or host name exactly as it displayed on the printer control panel.

2. Press Enter on the computer keyboard.
  
  The EWS opens.

Step two: Configure the default options for fax send jobs

Configure the default options for fax send jobs using the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Note:

The steps vary according to the type of control panel.

FutureSmart 3 touchscreen control panel

FutureSmart 4 or 5 touchscreen control panel

Find your printer control-panel type in the options below, and then follow the steps to configure the default options for fax send jobs.

FutureSmart 3

Follow these steps if your printer has a FutureSmart 3 control panel.

On the EWS Home page, click the Fax tab.
In the left navigation pane, click Fax Send Setup.
In the Scan Settings area, configure the default settings that describe the original documents.

FutureSmart 4 or 5

Follow these steps if your printer has a FutureSmart 4 or 5 touchscreen control panel.

On the EWS Home page, click the Fax tab.
In the left navigation pane, click Fax Send Setup, and then click Default Job Options.
On the Common Job Settings tab, select options, and then click Apply.

Note:

You can configure Quick Sets to create and save frequently-used settings for future use. When a user selects a Quick Set for a job from the printer control panel, the Quick Set overrides the default settings.

To create a Quick Set in the EWS, make sure you are on the Fax tab, and then click Quick Sets in the left navigation pane. Use the information provided on the EWS page to create a Quick Set.
