HP LaserJet Tank 1020, 1500, 2500 printers - Blinking lights

The following sections describe the most common error conditions with blinking lights displayed on the printer control panel, followed by solutions for each combination. Find the blinking light pattern that displays on the control panel, and then follow the steps to resolve the issue.

Control panel buttons, icons, and lights

Buttons/Lights	Description
Paper icon	Is on when there is a paper error and blinks when the input tray is out of paper.
Wi-Fi Direct icon	Indicates that the Wi-Fi Direct feature is on.
Wireless icon (Wireless model)	Indicates that the printer is connected to a wireless network.
Ethernet icon	Indicates that the printer is connected through a wired connection.
Attention icon	Blinks when the printer requires user attention.
Wireless button (Wireless model)	Turns the wireless connection on or off.
Wireless light (Wireless model)	Indicates the status of the wireless connection.
Information button and light (Wireless model)	Prints an information page that contains the summary of printer settings and status.
Resume button and light	Is on when the printer is in an error or prompt state. Press the button to resume the print job.
Cancel button and light	Cancels a print job.
Power button and light	Turns the printer on or off.

Attention icon is on and Paper icon blinks

The printer is out of paper or there is a paper jam. Make sure paper is loaded into the input tray.

Slide the paper guides to the edges of the input tray.
Load a stack of plain paper with the print-side facing up into the input tray, and then slide the stack forward until it stops.
Slide the paper guides until they rest against the stack of paper.
Lower the tray cover.
Press the Resume button .

If the Paper icon continues to blink, check the paper path for any jammed paper and clear the jam.

Attention icon blinks

The toner access door or rear access door is not properly closed.

Check and close the toner access door or rear access door.

Wireless icon and light (dw)

The Wireless icon and the Wireless light on the control panel display work together to indicate the status of a wireless connection.

The Wireless icon and Wireless light are off: The printer is not connected to a wireless network. You do not need to take any action.
The Wireless icon is on and Wireless light is solid blue: The printer is connected to a wireless network. You do not need to take any action.
The Wireless icon and Wireless light blink in sync: The printer is trying to connect to a wireless network. You do not need to take any action.
The Wireless icon with error and Wireless light blink in sync: The printer is unable to connect to a wireless network. Press the Cancel button to continue, and then try to connect to the wireless network again.
