HP OfficeJet Pro 9010, 9020 Printers - Loading Paper, Envelopes, Cards

This document is for HP OfficeJet Pro 9010, 9010e, 9012, 9013, 9014, 9014e, 9015, 9015e, 9016, 9018, 9018e, 9019, 9020, 9020e, 9022, 9022e, 9023, 9025, 9025e, 9026, 9028, OfficeJet 9012, 9012e, and Premier All-in-One printers.

You can print on plain or specialty paper. Load plain paper, legal size paper, envelopes, index cards, or photo paper in the printer input tray.

caution:
Never load multiple types of paper in the input tray or overload the input tray. Load one type of paper at a time, and never load paper while the printer is printing.

Load plain paper in the input tray

Load plain paper into the input tray before you print.

Load plain paper in the input tray (9010 printers)

Load paper into the input tray.

Pull out the input tray, and then slide out the paper-width guides as far as possible.
Load the stack of paper into the input tray in portrait orientation, and then push the stack into the tray until it stops.
Press the button near the front left of the tray to extend the input tray while loading legal paper.
Make sure the stack of paper is aligned with the appropriate paper size lines on the front of the input tray. Do not load more than 250 sheets of paper or exceed maximum stack height.
Slide in the paper-width guides until they touch the edge of the stack of paper.

Do not push in the guides so tightly that they bind against the paper.
Insert the input tray into the printer.

Load plain paper in Tray 1 (9020 printers)

Load plain paper into Tray 1 before you print.

note:
Tray 1 supports only plain paper in A4, Letter, or Legal size.

Pull out Tray 1 completely from the printer.
Slide the paper guides towards the edges of the tray as far as possible.
Load the paper into the input tray in portrait orientation, and then push the paper into the tray until it stops.
Make sure the stack of paper is aligned with the appropriate paper size lines on the front of the input tray. Do not load more than 250 sheets of paper or exceed maximum stack height.
Slide in the paper-width guides until they touch the edge of the stack of paper.

Do not push in the guides so tightly that they bind against the paper.
Check the tray area underneath the printer. If there is paper, remove the paper, and then reinsert the input tray.

Load plain paper in Tray 2 (9020 printers)

Load plain paper into Tray 2 before you print.

Pull out the input tray, and then slide out the paper-width guides as far as possible.
Load the paper into the input tray in portrait orientation, and then push the paper into the tray until it stops.
Press the button near the front left of the tray to extend the input tray while loading legal paper.
Make sure the stack of paper is aligned with the appropriate paper size lines on the front of the input tray. Do not load more than 250 sheets of paper or exceed maximum stack height.
Slide in the paper-width guides until they touch the edge of the stack of paper.

Do not push in the guides so tightly that they bind against the paper.
Insert the input tray into the printer.

After loading the paper, make sure to select the correct paper size and paper type settings when printing or copying.

Load envelopes in the input tray

Load the printer with blank envelopes print side down before you print.

Load envelopes in the input tray (9010 printers)

Load envelopes into the input tray before you print.

Pull out the input tray, and then slide out the paper-width guides as far as possible.
Remove all the paper from the input tray, and then load envelopes in portrait orientation with the print-side down. Determine which type of envelope you have, and then position the envelopes as shown.
Make sure the stack of envelopes is aligned with the appropriate paper size lines on the front of the input tray. Do not load more than 30 envelopes at a time or exceed maximum stack height.
Slide in the paper-width guides until they rest against the stack of envelopes.

Do not push in the guides so tightly that they bind against the envelopes.
Insert the input tray into the printer.

Load envelopes in Tray 2 (9020 printers)

Load envelopes into Tray 2 before you print.

Pull out the input tray, and then slide out the paper-width guides as far as possible.
Load the envelope into the input tray in portrait orientation, and then push the paper into the tray until it stops.
Make sure the stack of paper is aligned with the appropriate paper size lines on the front of the input tray. Do not load more than 30 envelopes at a time or exceed maximum stack height.
Slide in the paper-width guides until they touch the edge of the stack of envelopes.

Do not push in the guides so tightly that they bind against the envelopes.
Insert the input tray into the printer.

note:
After loading envelopes, make sure to select the correct paper size and paper type settings when printing or copying.

Load cards and photo paper in the input tray

Load photo paper or cards print side down into the paper tray before you print.

Load cards in the input tray (9010 printers)

Load photo paper or cards into the input tray before you print.

Pull out the input tray, and then slide out the paper-width guides as far as possible.
Insert the stack of paper or cards in portrait orientation, and then load the stack in the center of the input tray.
Make sure the stack of cards or photos is aligned with the appropriate paper size lines on the front of the input tray. Do not load more than 50 cards/photos or exceed maximum stack height.
Slide in the paper-width guides until they rest against the stack of paper or cards.

Do not push in the guides so tightly that they bind against the paper or cards.
Insert the input tray into the printer.

Load cards in Tray 2 (9020 printers)

Load photo paper or cards into Tray 2 before you print.

Pull out the input tray, and then slide out the paper-width guides as far as possible.
Load the card into the input tray in portrait orientation, and then push the card into the tray until it stops.
Make sure the stack of cards is aligned with the appropriate paper size lines on the front of the input tray. Do not load more than 50 cards at a time or exceed maximum stack height.
Slide in the paper-width guides until they touch the edge of the stack of cards.

Do not push in the guides so tightly that they bind against the cards.
Insert the input tray into the printer.
