HP PageWide Enterprise Color 556, MFP 586 - Install the memory DIMM

Install the memory DIMM
This document provides the procedure to install the optional memory DIMM for the HP PageWide Enterprise Color MFP 586 and HP PageWide Enterprise Color 556 printers.
  caution:
This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, place the product on an ESD mat (if available), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface. If an ESD workstation or mat is not available, ground yourself by touching the sheet-metal chassis before touching an ESD-sensitive part.
  1. Take memory DIMM out of the box, and then remove the packaging material. Verify that the contents match this illustration.
      note:
    HP recommends recycling packing materials whenever possible.

  2. Press the power button to turn off the printer.

  3. Disconnect the power cord and USB or network cable.

  4. Remove two thumbscrews (callout 1), and then slide the cover off of the printer to remove it.
      note:
    The thumbscrews are not captive and are easily lost.
      note:
    If needed, use the edge of a coin to turn the thumbscrews.

  5. 586 models only: Disconnect one connector (callout 1).

  6. Insert the connector end of the DIMM into the holder. Make sure that the DIMM is fully pushed into the connector.
      note:
    The DIMM is keyed and can only be inserted into the holder one way.

  7. Rotate the right edge of the DIMM toward holder (callout 1). Make sure that the two locking arms (callout 2) snap into place..

  8. 586 models only: Connect one connector (callout 1).

  9. Slide the cover onto the printer (callout 1) to install it, and then install two thumb screws (callout 2).
      note:
    If needed, use the edge of a coin to turn the thumbscrews.

  10. Connect the power cable and the USB or network cable.

  11. Press the power button to turn on the printer.
