Memory replacement

  caution:
Static electricity can damage electronic parts. When installing DIMMs, either wear an antistatic wrist strap or frequently touch the surface of the DIMM antistatic package, and then touch bare metal on the product.
  1. If you have not already done so, print a configuration page to find out how much memory is installed in the product.
  2. Turn the product off and disconnect the power cord.
  3. Disconnect all interface cables.
  4. Remove the right-side panel by sliding it towards the rear of the product to unlatch it.
  5. Remove the DIMM from the antistatic package.
      caution:
To reduce the possibility of damage caused by static electricity, always wear an electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap or touch the surface of the antistatic package before handling DIMMs.
  6. Holding the DIMM by the edges, align the notch on the DIMM with the bar in the DIMM slot at an angle and firmly press the DIMM into the slot until it is fully seated. When installed correctly, the metal contacts are not visible.
  7. Push down on the DIMM until both latches engage the DIMM.
    note:
If you have difficulty inserting the DIMM, make sure the notch on the bottom of the DIMM is aligned with the bar in the slot. If the DIMM still does not go in, make sure you are using the correct type of DIMM.
  8. Reinstall the right-side panel. Align the tabs on the panel with the slots in the product, and push the panel toward the front of the product until it latches into place.
  9. Reconnect the interface cables and the power cord.
  10. Turn the product on.
