HP LaserJet M207-M212 printers - First time printer setup

To set up a printer for the first time, remove the printer and all packing materials from the box, connect the printer to a power source, download and install HP Smart or the printer software, connect the printer to a network, create an HP Account, and load paper.

Note:

Step 1: Remove the printer from the box

Remove the printer from the box, and then remove the packing material.

  1. Remove the printer and power cord from the box.

  2. Remove and recycle all packing material.

    Note:

    Do not remove the toner cartridge from the printer. The printer is shipped with a toner cartridge already prepared for printing.

Step 2: Connect the power cord and turn on the printer

Plug the power cord into a wall outlet and turn on the printer.

Note:

Do not connect a USB cable at this time. The connection to the computer is established during the software installation. HP+ printers must be connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or wired). If you want to use a USB cable, connect your HP+ printer to internet first, and then connect the USB cable as secondary connection.

  1. Connect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then plug the other end of the power cord into an electrical outlet.

  2. Turn on the printer.

Step 3: Install the printer software and connect the printer

Use the HP Smart app or HP Easy Start to help you set up the printer and connect the printer to a wireless network (preferred) or USB connection.

Note:

An HP account is required for HP+ printers, if you do not have an account, you can create one during the software installation process.

Step 4: Load paper, install the tray cover, and complete the setup

Load paper into the input tray and install the tray cover.

  1. Slide the paper guides to the edges of the input tray.

  2. Load a stack of plain paper with the print-side facing up into the input tray, and then slide the stack forward until it stops.

    Note:

    Load up to 150 sheets of paper with the print side facing up and the top edge toward the printer. If you are loading pre-punched paper, load the paper with the holes toward the left side of the tray.

  3. Slide the paper guides until they rest against the stack of paper.

  4. Install the tray cover.

  5. Extend the output tray.

Your printer is now set up and ready for printing.
