How Instant Ink works
HP Instant Ink is a printing service exclusive to HP printers: a way to print that saves you time and money. Here is how it works.
-
Choose a printing plan based on the number of pages you expect to print in a month.
-
Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your service at any time with no extra fees or penalties.
-
When you print less than your plan amount, unused pages roll over up to the maximum for your plan.
-
If you print over your plan amount, additional pages are added to your monthly bill.
-
Color, black and white, and photo prints are counted the same way.
-
-
Your service starts immediately upon enrollment using the cartridges that shipped with your printer.
-
When you provide a shipping address, a set of HP Instant cartridges is shipped to you.
-
If you enroll for the trial offered during printer setup, your free months of service start right away.
-
After the trial period, you are billed at the end of your billing cycle each month.
-
Instant Ink cartridges only work while your plan is active. If you cancel, remove Instant Ink cartridges and purchase Original HP Ink or Toner from the retailer of your choice to continue printing.
-
-
Instant Ink monitors your usage and automatically ships ink or toner cartridges before you need them.
-
You only receive Instant Ink cartridges when you need them so you may not receive them every month.
-
Shipping and cartridge recycling are included with your service.
-
Requirements
-
Active internet connection to the printer: The printer must be set up on a wired or wireless network that has access to the internet.
-
HP Smart account: You must have an HP ID account, also known as an HP Smart account. You can create one during enrollment.
-
Email address (Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, etc.): Required as part of the enrollment. Do not use the ePrint email address for your printer.
-
Valid credit or debit card: A credit card is required for enrollment, but the payment method can be changed to PayPal after enrollment.*
-
Supported countries: Go to HP Instant Ink, select either For Home/Home Office or For Business, and click the flag icon to see supported countries. HP Instant Ink Platinum is currently available only in the continental United States.
*In some country/regions, a payment method is not required during the free trial. Payment is required to continue printing with HP Instant Ink if you print over the maximum number of pages allowed for the free trial.
For more information about HP Instant Ink, go to HP Instant Ink. Select either For Home/Home Office or For Business at the top of the page to see the plans that are right for you.
Learn about the Paper Add-on service
The Paper Add-on service delivers HP Paper to your door before you need it.
-
The Paper Add-on service is an option to your Instant Ink service.
-
Your paper page limit matches your ink or toner page limit.
-
The monthly fee includes shipping.
-
Unused pages roll over to the next month.
-
Your plan can be changed at any time.
-
To avoid running out of paper, use the paper from the service only in the enrolled printer.
How can I enroll? Sign into your Instant Ink account and click the Paper Add-on Service offer on your account page.
Where is the Paper Add-on service available? The Paper Add-on service is currently available only in the continental United States. It is not available in Alaska, Hawaii, US Territories, military bases, or PO Box addresses.
What are the minimum requirements? You are eligible to participate if your printer is enrolled in Instant Ink and the offer appears on your Instant Ink account page.
What kind of paper? Depending on your plan, you get one or three 500-page reams of high-quality, sustainably sourced 20lb 96 Bright HP Paper. The paper is engineered to support a wide range of everyday color printing. Other papers are not supported currently. Replacement reams are shipped when your printer tells HP you need more paper, not by the month.
