HP Color LaserJet Pro M280 Printers - Loading Paper and Envelopes

1. Pull out the main input tray.

2. Slide out the paper width and paper length guides as far as possible.
   To load legal-size paper, extend the tray front by pressing the blue latch and pulling the front of the tray.

3. Load paper into the tray print side up with the top edge towards the printer. If you are loading pre-punched paper, load the paper with the holes toward the left side of the tray.

4. Make sure the paper stack is flat at all four corners. Slide in the paper width and length guides until they touch the edges of the stack of paper.

   note:

   To prevent jams, do not overfill the tray. Make sure the top of the stack is below the tray full indicator.

5. Insert the tray into in the paper tray.

   note:

   When loaded with legal-size paper, the main input tray extends from the front of the printer approximately 57.5 mm (2.2 inches).

1. Move the paper width guides in the priority feed slot outward.
2. Place the top edge of the sheet print side up at the opening, and then adjust the side guides so they lightly touch the sheet, but do not bend it. If you are loading pre-punched paper, load the paper with the holes toward the left side of the tray.

3. Insert the single sheet into the slot and hold it.
   The printer pulls the sheet partially into the paper path.

   note:

   Depending on the size of the paper, you might need to support the sheet with two hands until the sheet advances into the printer.

4. On the computer, begin the printing process from the software application.

note:

Before printing or copying, select the correct tray, paper size, and paper type settings from the control panel or computer.

Before printing on the envelopes, select the correct envelope size and settings.

3. Load envelopes into the main input tray print side up, with the flap to the left.

4. Make sure the envelope stack is flat at all four corners. Slide in the paper width and length guides until they touch the edges of the stack of envelopes.

   note:

   To prevent jams, do not overfill the tray. Be sure that the top of the stack is below the tray full indicator.

5. Insert the main input tray back into the printer.

1. Move the paper width guides in the single-sheet priority feed slot outward.
2. Place the envelope face-up, flap to the left, at the opening, and then adjust the paper width guides so they lightly touch the envelope, but do not bend it.

3. Insert the envelope into the slot and hold it.
   The printer pulls the envelope partially into the paper path.

   note:

   Depending on the size of the envelope, you might need to support it with two hands until the envelope advances into the printer.

4. On the computer, begin the printing process from the software application.
