HP LaserJet Pro, Ultra Printers - Loading Paper, Envelopes, Labels

This document is for HP LaserJet Pro M203d, M203dn, M203dw, LaserJet Pro MFP M227d, M227fdn, M227fdw, M227sdn, LaserJet Ultra M206dn, LaserJet Ultra MFP M230sdn and M230fdw printers.

This document provides instructions for loading plain paper or envelopes into the printer.

note:
Never load multiple types of paper in the input tray. Load one type of paper at a time, and never load paper while the printer is printing.

Load plain paper

Load plain paper, such as A4, U.S. letter, or U.S. legal, into the main or priority input tray.

Load plain paper in the main input tray

Load plain paper into the main input tray.

Lower the main input tray door, and then slide out the paper width guides as far as possible.

Load up to 250 sheets of paper with the print side facing up and the top edge toward the printer. If you are loading pre-punched paper, load the paper with the holes toward the left side of the tray.

Slide in the paper guides until they touch the edge of the stack of paper.

Press down on the output bin extension to open it, and then lower the output bin extender.
- If you loaded A4 or U.S. letter-size paper, close the main input tray door.
- If you loaded U.S. legal-size or larger paper, do not close the main input tray door.

note:
Before printing or copying, select the correct paper size and paper type settings from the control panel or computer.

Load plain paper in the priority input tray

Load plain paper into the priority input tray.

Lower the main input tray door, and then slide out the paper width guides as far as possible.

Load up to 10 sheets of plain paper with the print side facing up and the top edge toward the printer. If you are loading pre-punched paper, load the paper with the holes toward the left side of the tray.

Slide the paper guides until they rest against the edges of the stack of paper.

Press down on the output bin extension to open it, and then lower the output bin extender.
- If you loaded A4 or U.S. letter-size paper, close the main input tray door.
- If you loaded legal-size paper, do not close the main input tray door.

Load envelopes

Load envelopes into the main or priority input tray.

Envelope guidelines

Make sure you load envelopes that are compatible with the printer.

Do not use envelopes with clasps, snaps, windows, coated linings, self-stick adhesives, or other synthetic materials that are susceptible to heat.
Do not use envelopes that are wrinkled, nicked, stuck together, or otherwise damaged.
If you use envelopes with peel-off adhesive strips, make sure they are approved for use in laser printers.
Only use envelopes recommended for laser printers.
Use envelopes with seams that extend to the corners.

Lower the main input tray door, and then slide out the paper width guides as far as possible.

Load up to 10 envelopes into the input tray with the print-side facing up and the flap-side facing down.
- If the envelope flap is on the short edge, position the envelope with the flap-side down, and then insert the short edge without a flap toward the printer.
- If the envelope flap is on the long edge of the envelope, insert the envelope with the flap-side positioned to the left side of the input tray.

Load a stack of labels with the print-side facing up into the main input tray, and then slide the stack forward until it stops.
