HP Pro Tablet 608 G1 Notebook PCs - Unresponsive Touch Screen During PreBoot Authentication When Using BitLocker

DESCRIPTION
The tablet's touchscreen does not respond when pressed. This only occurs when the tablet first powers on and requests the password for BitLocker encryption.

SCOPE
Information in this document applies to the following:
Computer:
  • HP Pro Tablet 608 G1
Operating Systems:
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
RESOLUTION
To resolve the issue, refer to the following steps:
  1. Open the DOS prompt with administrative rights.
  2. Type GPEDI.MSC
  3. Select Computer Configuration, Windows Components, BitLocker Drive Encryption, and Operating System Settings
  4. Enable the following settings:
    • Require additional Authentication at startup
    • Require additional authentication at start up (Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista)
    • Enable use of bit locker authentication requiring pre-boot keyboard input on slates
    • Configure minimum PIN length for startup (default is 4 can change up to 20)
    • Configure use of password for operating system drives
    • Configure TPM platform validation profile (Windows Vista, WindowsServer 2008, Windows 7, Windows server 2008 R2)
  5. Save and exit.
  6. Open the DOS prompt with administrative rights again.
  7. Type MANAGE-BDE -PROTECTORS -ADD C: -TPMANDPIN
  8. Type the desired PIN number and confirm.
  9. Save and Exit.
  10. Restart the computer.
