This document provides instructions for loading plain paper, photo paper, and envelopes. For a list of the paper types that the printer supports, see the Printer Specifications document on the HP website.

Load plain paper

Follow these steps to load U.S. letter or A4 size paper in the printer.

Open the paper tray door.
Grasp the door, and then pull it toward you to extend the paper tray.
Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions.

Extend the paper tray

Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions
Load a stack of plain paper into the tray with the short edge facing toward the printer and the print side down. Push the stack into the tray until it stops.

Slide the paper width guides in until they rest against the edges of the paper, and then slide the paper tray back into the printer until it clicks into place.

Pull the paper tray extender toward you, and then lift up the end.

Load photo paper

Follow these steps to load photo paper in the printer.

Open the paper tray door.
Grasp the door, and then pull it toward you to extend the paper tray.
Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions.

Load a stack of photo paper into the tray with the short edge facing toward the printer and the print side down. Push the stack into the tray until it stops.

Load envelopes

Follow these steps to load one or more envelopes in the tray.

note:
Do not use shiny or embossed envelopes or envelopes that have clasps or windows.

Open the paper tray door.
Grasp the door, and then pull it toward you to extend the paper tray.
Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions.

Load one or more envelopes into the middle of the tray, with the flaps on the left and facing up.

Slide the paper width guides in until they rest against the stack of envelopes.
Slide the paper tray back into the printer until it stops.
Pull the paper tray extender toward you, and then lift up the end.
