HP Compaq 6200 Pro Microtower PC - Removing and Replacing the Memory

Introduction
This document applies to the HP Compaq 6200 Pro Microtower PC.
Before you begin
  • Turn off the computer, and then disconnect all cables. Disconnect the Ethernet or modem cable before disconnecting the power cord.
  • Move the computer to a clear, flat, stable work surface over a non-carpeted floor.
  • Do not remove a component from its protective packaging until you are ready to install it.
  warning:
The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any interior metal edge of the computer.
  caution:
This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a noncarpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (such as a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.

Removing the memory
Perform the following to remove the memory:

Review the following safety considerations before performing the following steps. Failure to comply with these safety considerations could result in damage to the product.
Step 1
Remove the side panel.
Remove the side panel.
Step 2
Remove any cables blocking access to the memory.
Remove the cables.
Step 3
Push down and out on the memory socket latches to release the memory module.
Release memory module.
Step 4
Pull the memory module up and out of the socket.
Remove the memory module.
Replacing the memory
Perform the following to replace the memory:
Step 1
Ensure that the memory socket latches are pushed down and away from the memory socket.
Lower the memory socket latches.
Step 2
Match the notch on the memory module with the key in the memory socket.

Step 3
Push the module down firmly into the socket until the latches snap into place and the module is fully seated.
Pressing the memory module into the socket.

Replace the side panel.
