HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer Series (J610) - Troubleshooting print carriage jams

Troubleshooting print carriage jams
The output tray must be open and the cartridge door must be closed to begin printing. Check the printer and try printing again. If you're still having a problem, the print carriage may be blocked.
An object may be blocking the print carriage and preventing it from moving. If your printer is new, make sure you remove all of the packing material inside the carriage area. If your printer is not new, check the carriage area for foreign objects that may have fallen in to the printer, such as pet hair or paper clips.
Try the following solutions to resolve the issue.
Solution 1: Make sure that the printer is turned on
  1. Look at the Power button located on the printer. If it is not lit, the printer is turned off. Make sure the power cord is firmly connected to the printer and plugged into a power outlet. Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
  2. Try using your printer again.
Solution 2: Unblock the print carriage
  1. Make sure the printer is on.
      caution:
    Make sure the printer is on before disconnecting the power cord as described in step 2. Failure to disconnect the power cord from the rear of the unit can cause damage when removing jammed paper.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. If you're using a USB connection, disconnect the USB cable from the back of the printer.
  4. Make sure you don't have a paper jam:
    1. Open the cleanout door on the bottom of the printer.
      Remove any jammed paper.
      Replace the cleanout door.
  5. Open the cartridge door.

  6. Remove any paper or object that might be restricting the print carriage. If the printer is new, remove any packing material.
  7. Reconnect only the power cord. If the printer does not turn on automatically, press the Power button.
      note:
    The printer might need to warm up for two minutes or less. Lights might flash, and the print carriage might move during this time.
  8. Use your hand to gently move the carriage all the way to the left and right to ensure the carriage moves freely. If it does not move freely, paper or other objects may still be blocking the carriage movement. Continue to clear the carriage area until the print carriage moves freely.
  9. If you're using a USB connection, reconnect the USB cable.
  10. Close the cartridge door.
      note:
    You may have to press the Power button again to reset the printer.
  11. Try using your printer again.
Solution 3: Contact HP support
  1. If none of these solutions helped you, HP provides various assisted support options for your product.
    To expedite the support contact, have the following information available:
    • Product name (HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One series)
    • Model number (located inside the cartridge door)

    • The serial number of the printer (a 10-character code)
      The serial number is located on a sticker on the back or bottom of the printer. The serial number is the 10-character code on the sticker. It contains numbers and letters, but no dashes.
