HP Photosmart C4700 All-in-One Printer Series - The Control Panel Display Freezes on the HP Logo when Connecting to a Wireless Network

Issue
The control panel display shows the HP logo and the product does not respond when connecting to a wireless network.
Important: Connect your computer to your product with a USB cable before attempting these steps. If you do not establish communication from the computer to your product before completing these steps, this solution will not work.
Step one: Check the printer's serial number
  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Remove the power cord and USB cable.
  3. Check the serial number on the UPC bar code on the bottom of the product.
    • If the serial number is CN017xxxxx or earlier, your product is not affected. You do not need to continue troubleshooting.
    • If the Serial number is CN018xxxxx or later, continue to the next step.
Step two: Download a firmware update
HP has developed a firmware update to resolve this issue. Follow these steps to download the Critical Update to Prevent and Recover from an Unresponsive HP Logo Front Panel update.
  1. Select your computer type to open the download page:
  2. Review the instructions, and then click Download
    A new window opens.
  3. Click Save File. Note the location where you saved the file.
Step three: Install the firmware update
Follow these steps to install the firmware update.
  1. Reconnect the power cord and the USB cable.
  2. Press the power button () to turn on your product, and then wait for the product to initialize.
  3. Open the C4700_FWUpdate_3455_HPCOM_v1.exe (Windows), or the HP_Firmware_Updater_C4700_3_2_1.dmg (Macintosh) file that you downloaded.
  4. Click Run.
    The software update runs.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the firmware update.
      note:
    The installation process might take up to five minutes. If your product does not respond after five minutes, remove the power cord from the back of your product, reconnect the cord, and then press the power button.
  6. Attempt to connect to your wireless network again.
