HP LaserJet Pro P1566 and P1606dn Printers - Replacing the Pickup Roller

Introduction

The pickup roller in your product wears out with normal use with good media. This document provides steps to change a worn-out pickup roller.

If you need a new pickup roller, see ordering supplies and accessories.

Changing the pickup roller

Press the Power button () to turn off the product. Wait for the product to cool before proceeding.

warning:
Failure to turn off the power might damage the product.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Open the print cartridge door, and then remove the print cartridge.

caution:
To prevent damage to the print cartridge, minimize its exposure to direct light. Cover the print cartridge with a sheet of paper.
Find the pickup roller inside the product.

Release the small, white tabs on each side of the pickup roller, and then rotate the pickup roller toward the front.

caution:
Do not touch the black-sponge transfer roller inside the product. Touching the transfer roller can damage the product.
Gently pull the pickup roller up and out of the product.

Position the new pickup roller in the slot. The circular and rectangular pegs on each side help you install the roller correctly.

Rotate the top of the new pickup roller away from you until both sides snap into place.

Reinstall the print cartridge, and then close the print cartridge door.

Plug the power cord back into the product.
Press the Power button () to turn on the product.
