HP iPAQ 100 Classic Handheld Series - Resetting the Device

Introduction
A soft reset restarts your HP iPAQ 100 Classic Handheld Series device. A soft reset stops all running applications, but does not erase any programs or saved data.
A hard reset or factory reset clears all user-installed settings, programs, data, and restores your device to factory settings.
Performing a soft reset
  note:
Close all the running applications before performing a soft reset.
To perform a soft reset:
  1. Locate the recessed Reset button on the right side of the device.
  2. Use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button.
Performing a hard reset
  note:
It is advised that you back up all your data before performing a hard reset.
Follow these steps to perform a hard reset of the device.
  1. Hold the Start/Windows button, OK button, Record button at the same time and then press and release the Reset button using the stylus.

  2. Continue holding the Start/Windows button, OK button, and Record button until a Clean Boot message displays. This indicates successful restoration of factory settings on your device.
Reinstalling applications on your device
To reinstall applications on your device after the hard reset use the Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) on your computer. ActiveSync 4.5 (or later) is required for Host PC which is running with Microsoft Windows XP or 2000. WMDC is required for Host PC which is running with Microsoft Windows Vista.
  • In ActiveSync: Select Tools > Add/Remove Programs, and then select any programs you want to reinstall.
  • In WMDC: When the device is not synchronizing, select Programs and Services > Add/Remove Programs. Select the programs you want to reinstall and click OK.
