HP EliteBook 2540p Notebook PC - Removing and Replacing the Bluetooth Module

Introduction

This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the bluetooth module for the HP EliteBook 2540p Notebook PC.

Tools required

Small, Phillips-head (P00 and P1) screwdrivers

Parts required

Part numbers are subject to change.
The replacement part number will vary depending on the bluetooth module that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

For customers in countries/regions with RoHS legislation* (e.g. EU, China, etc.) restricting the use of hazardous substances in electrical equipment. The use of the Original Spare part is regulated by RoHS legislation. If your unit contains a part that is labelled with the Modified Spare number, the Modified Spare must be ordered as the replacement part. If your unit contains a part that is labelled with the Original Spare number, please order the Original Spare as the replacement part. In this case either the Original Spare or the Modified Spare may be shipped which will not affect performance or functionality of the unit.

Bluetooth module removal

  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      atención:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. On the bottom of the notebook, loosen the captive P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the Bluetooth module cover to the base enclosure.
  3. Turn the Bluetooth module cover over so you have access to the Bluetooth module.
  4. Using a flat, non-metallic tool, remove the Bluetooth module from its cradle on the Bluetooth module cover.
  5. Remove the Bluetooth module cover.
  6. Disconnect the Bluetooth cable from its connector on the Bluetooth module.
  7. Remove the Bluetooth module and place it in a static dissipative bag.

Bluetooth module replacement

  1. Remove the Bluetooth module from the static dissipative bag.
  2. Connect the Bluetooth cable to its connector on the Bluetooth module.
  3. Holding the Bluetooth module cover in one hand, place the Bluetooth module into its cradle on the Bluetooth module cover.
  4. Toe the tab on right side of the Bluetooth module cover into the slot in the base enclosure and lower the Bluetooth module cover into position.
      atención:
    Ensure that the Bluetooth module cable is free from being pinched between the Bluetooth module cover and base enclosure.
  5. Tighten the captive P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the Bluetooth module cover to the base enclosure.
