How do I enable Bluetooth on my computer?
Enable Bluetooth on your computer to connect to other Bluetooth-enabled devices and computers.
In Windows, search for and open Bluetooth and other devices settings.
note:
If Bluetooth & other devices does not display, your computer might not support Bluetooth.
On the Bluetooth & other devices tab, toggle the Bluetooth setting On.
Under Related settings, click More Bluetooth options.
On the Options tab, check the box next to Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC, and then click OK.
How do I send files or photos to my computer over Bluetooth?
Yes, you can transfer files or photos from a Bluetooth-enabled computer or device to your computer.
note:
Apple iOS devices and Mac computers currently do not support transferring files or photos over Bluetooth to a computer with Windows.
In Windows, search for and open Bluetooth and other devices settings.
Under Related settings, click Send or receive files via Bluetooth to open Bluetooth File Transfer.
Click Receive files, and then on the device or other computer, open the file or photo you want to send.
Send the file or photo to your computer.
On an Android mobile device, tap the Share icon , tap the Bluetooth icon , and then select your computer in the list of connected devices.
On the other computer, right-click the file or photo, click Send to, and then select Bluetooth device. Select your computer in the list, and then click Next.
On the confirmation screen, select the location where you want to save it, and then click Finish.
How do I send files or photos to another Bluetooth computer or device?
Yes, you can transfer files or photos from your computer to a Bluetooth-enabled computer or device.
note:
Apple iOS devices and Mac computers currently do not support receiving files or photos over Bluetooth from a computer with Windows.
In Windows, search for and open Bluetooth and other devices settings.
Under Related settings, click Send or receive files via Bluetooth to open Bluetooth File Transfer.
Click Send files, select the computer or mobile device you want to send the file or photo, and then click Next.
On the Select the file to send screen, click Browse..., locate and open the file or photo, and then click Next.
On your mobile device, confirm the file transfer to download the file or photo.
How do I know if my computer supports Bluetooth?
Use Device Manager to confirm if your computer supports Bluetooth. Device Manager lists all the hardware components available on your computer.
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
On Device Manager, look for Bluetooth in the list.
If Bluetooth does not display, your computer does not support it. You can add Bluetooth to your computer by purchasing a Bluetooth adapter.
Can I add Bluetooth to my computer?
Yes. You can use a USB Bluetooth adapter, also known as a Bluetooth dongle, to add Bluetooth to your computer. USB Bluetooth adapters are available for purchase online and through most retail computer stores.
How do I add the Bluetooth icon to the Windows notification area?
For quick access, you can change the Bluetooth settings so the Bluetooth icon displays in the computer notification area.
In Windows, search for and open Bluetooth and other devices settings.
Under Related settings, click More Bluetooth options to open the Bluetooth settings.
On the Options tab, select the check box next to Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area, and then click OK.
What is the range of Bluetooth?
Bluetooth range varies across the different types of Bluetooth devices. Typically, they have a range of about 10 m (33 ft). Refer to your device or computer manufacturer for the exact range.
Can I use Bluetooth devices when in Airplane mode?
Yes, you can use your device in Airplane mode. Airplane mode automatically turns off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If you need to use Bluetooth while in Airplane mode, you can manually toggle it back on.
In Windows, search for and open Airplane mode.
With Airplane mode on, click the toggle next to Bluetooth to turn it on.
Can I connect a printer to my computer using Bluetooth?
Some HP printers can print over a Bluetooth connection, or use Bluetooth Smart as a mobile setup option. Go to Bluetooth Printing Guide for more information.
