The Windows 11 and Windows 10 reset features reinstall the operating system without losing your personal data or customizations.
If your computer has HP Sure Recover enabled, HP recommends using HP Sure Recover to reset your computer. If you prefer to use the Windows reset feature, you must disable HP Sure Recover in BIOS before you attempt to reset the computer.
Turn on the computer, and immediately press f10 repeatedly to open HP Computer Setup.
Use the arrow keys to navigate to the Advanced tab.
Select Sure Recover.
Clear the HP Sure Recover check box.
Navigate to the Main tab, and then select Save Changes and Exit.
Use the Windows 11 or Windows 10 reset feature when Windows starts normally. First, update the computer to see if that resolves the issue.
Update your Windows 11 or Windows 10 computer using Windows Update.
In Windows, search for and open Check for updates.
If there are any available updates, they begin automatically.
To download and install optional updates, use the following instructions for your operating system:
In Windows 11, select Advanced options > Optional updates, select the updates that you want to install, and then click Download & install.
In Windows 10, select View all optional updates, select the updates that you want to install, and then click Download and install.
After the updates install, restart your computer when prompted.
Reset your computer with a fresh installation of Windows 11.
In Windows, search for and open Recovery options.
In the Recovery screen under Reset this PC, click Reset PC.
Follow the instructions to reset your computer. This might take a few minutes.

In Windows, search for and open Recovery options.
In the Recovery screen under Reset this PC, click Get started.
Follow the instructions to reset your computer. This might take a few minutes.
Use Windows Recovery Environment to reset the system when Windows does not start normally.
Reset your computer through Windows Recovery Environment if Windows does not start as expected.
Choose a method to open Windows Recovery Environment.
Restart your computer, and then immediately press the F11 key repeatedly.
Click Start . Press and hold the Shift key, click Power, and then select Restart while holding the Shift key. Continue holding the Shift key while the computer restarts.
On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot.
On the Troubleshoot screen, select Reset this PC.
Follow the instructions to reset your computer. This might take a few minutes.
